• Performs diagnostic radiographic services accurately and competently including assessing patient, positioning patient, selecting appropriate exposure/technical factors and modifying procedures as required by patient condition.• Utilizes O-arm and C-arm machines to obtain images of patients during surgery and other procedures in both inpatient and outpatient cases.• Utilizes portable x-ray machine to obtain images of patients in their room in all areas of the hospital including the neonatal intensive care unit, long-term acute care facility, intensive care unit in addition to the emergency room.• Assumes responsibility for assigned area by maintaining patient flow and optimizing time and resources while also assuming care for the needs of the patient.• Performs QC function of all images prior to submitting to digital storage and assures that the correct patient exam and tracking is completed.• Develops positive relationship and communication with physicians and mid-level providers in surgery and other procedure areas to insure positive patient outcome and proper utilization of resources.• Provides education to patient and family by explaining the procedure to be performed and radiology processes.• Applies principles of radiation protection and assumes responsibility for the protection of the patient and others involved in a procedure.• Mentors and trains coworkers and student radiologic technicians• Coordinates staff assignment to surgery cases and other procedures while working with surgery control personnel to schedule additional cases during the day.
