Scientist doing histology and image analysis for preclinical gene therapy studies. Main responsibilities include:-Develop image analysis workflows for histology special stains, IHC, IF, and cell based assays.-Compare quantified image data with corresponding molecular assay datasets.-Track budget and timelines for multiple concurrent histology.

I studied the basement membrane, a type of extracellular matrix that covers every organ in the body, and how it changes during organ growth in C. elegans. We use a wide variety of techniques, such as genome editing, in vivo imaging, and genetics to understand how the extracellular environment shapes organ and tissue development.

I worked as a microscopy specialist with the Embryology course at the MBL at Woods Hole for the second half of the course. Over three weeks I helped students design, carry out, and troubleshoot experiments on a wide variety of live and fixed samples on diverse imaging platforms.

From January 2016 through April 2017 I served as Director of Legislative Affairs (DOLA) for the Southeastern US. As DOLA, I kept track of policies that might impact graduate and professional students in the Southeast. I listened to concerns from regional board members and worked to participate or organize call and letter writing campaigns regarding.

Worked with a group of graduate students from UNC Chapel Hill to organize a regional research conference focused on cytoskeletal biology. Both years I was involved the TCM drew ~200 attendees from more than 20 institutions. I was involved in administration of tasks, fundraising, logistics, and abstract review and selection.

For three years I worked in the Core Microscopy Facility at MBL for the summer months. I helped with logistics and basic maintenance on a wide range of light and electron microscopy imaging and sample preparation equipment. My main duties were giving trainings for wide field, confocal, and scanning electron microscopes, helping users with imaging problems.
