Bringing all of the support CACTUS can provide through it various agencies including Editage, Editage Insights, Impact Science, and Kolabtree to bear, we can help train researchers to write and understand the publishing process, support them through editing and journal selection and submission processes, and promote their research through the creation and distribution of multimedia content such as short articles, infographics, and videos based on their published research. Similarly, we can help institutions showcase their best research and researchers thus raising their international profile.

I managed key accounts for universities and research institutions based in markets from the US, Europe, the Middle East, and India. This involved relationship management, customer service, delivery, quality, and growth. During my time, we grew from 1 account to over 50 accounts. We grew revenue from key accounts by over 400% in 4 years through new conversions, organic growth, and new business from existing accounts. I was also responsible for launching two new services, journal copyediting and alt-text writing. It meant that I was the first copyeditor and alt-text writer but I was able to build a great team and set processes, and we went on to acquire major publishers as customers very soon.

I headed the Physical Sciences and Engineering team of editors. 30 in-house editors and over 500 freelance editors made up this team that was responsible for all the editing projects from Astrophysics to Chemistry and Engineering. We served hundreds of researchers and institutions across the globe.

For a brief period of 1 month, I was responsible for all training and quality for the Physical Sciences team. I trained 1 batch of new editors: 2 Life Sciences and 2 Physical Sciences editors. It was fun!

I was one of the 3% of applicants selected by Cactus Communications for an editing role. In 2.5 years, I started as a sub-editor in the Physical Sciences team to an Associate Editor, and a Senior Associate Editor, responsible for training fresh sub-editors joining the team.

My first real job. I was system admin, network admin, and go to trouble shooter for all things tech at the Salvation Army headquarters in Mumbai. Officially, I managed their Domino server, including replication, updation, and overall accounts. One major achievement was to upgrade the entire IT set-up at the headquarters from PCs to printers to setting up a network - I literally laid the network cables by hand and crimped the RJ 45 connectors.

Because I had a masters degree in Astrophysics, I thought this would be fun - it was. I was a resource person for public visits, although I found myself more involved in research projects the Director was overseeing. I was also part of a few field trips with an amateur astronomer group associated with the planetarium.
