About Daniel Qiu

I graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. and MEng in mechanical engineering, and proceeded to work on AEGIS for around 4 years. During my employment at BAE Systems, I analyzed the system performance of AEGIS and compared it to software requirements requested by the Navy, and also developed test procedures for the integration of the new SPY-6 into the existing AEGIS combat system. I moved on to InDepth Engineering, where I was able to study the simulation side of AEGIS by working on its simulation counterpart, MEDUSA. Using various tools and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, etc, I analyzed various scenarios in MEDUSA and participated in software development for a higher fidelity simulation.     Designed a biomimetic mechanism that can be used for propulsion of a blimp.Constructed a jellyfish-like tentacle to generate lift.Fabricated the tentacle using Lego Technic parts and PVC strips to mimic the wave motion of the jellyfish.Designed a bevel gear to couple a servo to the Lego crankshaft mechanism, and produced it with a 3D printer.
