He was responsible for unifying and advancing the investment and capability analysis of the Pentagon's modernization priorities, including Artificial Intelligence; Autonomy; Biotechnology; Cyber; Directed Energy; Fully Networked Command, Control, and Communications; Hypersonics; Microelectronics; Quantum Science; and Space. Dr. Ragsdale supervises the 11 Principal Directors for each of those modernization priorities areas. These formally-designated Senior DoD Officials are charged with coordinating all DoD research and engineering activities in their respective areas of responsibilities, including the development and continuous refinement of technology and capability roadmaps, funding strategies, and technology transition plans. Oversaw the development of 12 new graduate and undergraduate cybersecurity courses, a 150% increase since 2015. Established and led the creation of the Texas A&M Cybersecurity Club. Led the effort for A&M to gain designation by the NSA and DHS as a National Center of Academic Excellence for Cyber Defense Education and Research and for Cyber Operations. Serves as the senior military liaison with KBR (a Halliburton subsidiary), the principal provider of logistics support to coalition forces.Notable accomplishments: Devised and implemented plans and procedures that resulted in significantly enhanced force protection. Despite significant increases in insurgent activity across Iraq, there were no recorded casualties on VBC during this period.
