Consulted with various small to medium companies on all matters accounting, including process improvements and revenue recognition.Key contributions:• Performed preliminary evaluation of small businesses’ readiness to adopt revenue recognition standard.• Advised a private food service organization with operations in 4 Middle Eastern countries operating over 100 bakeries and restaurants to document the company’s process flow, set up new process for inter-branch transfer pricing of products, and back-office allocations. Developed controls over the implementation and buildout of a central kitchen facility and improved processes around cash management, disbursements, account reconciliation.

Led and directed the internal audit (IA) team of 16 with regards to the SOX testing and compliance program, representing approximately 14,000 hours or half the departmental budget, while coordinating with the external audit team and the corporate controller’s office.Key contributions:• Redesigned and enhanced the SOX testing plan to increase productivity and increase the reliance on IA, saving the company an estimated $250,000 in audit fees.• Led the IA efforts in the assessment and integration of a significant acquisition into the internal control structure.• Collaborated with personnel across multiple business divisions (Terminals, Natural Gas, Products Pipeline and Co2), including corporate functions such as procurement and legal compliance on ad hoc projects and other internal audits and projects.• Instituted a team development program to encourage the achievement of the Certified Internal Auditor certification through support and weekly study sessions leading to an estimated 50% increase in certifications.
