About Daniel Rothman
I am passionate about utilizing innovative technology to maximize efficiency in healthcare. I have worked in five research labs and founded four start-up companies. One notable success is that I helped CityMD grow from 4 to 75 locations and we then sold it to Warburg Pincus for $600M. I began my career at Brown University, where I studied Cognitive Neuroscience. I was always drawn to practical applications of research and founded my first start-up, Zeo Inc. during the summer after my junior year. After a 10 year run and sales of 100,000 units the company was sold to ResMed. I co-founded NightPilot, an astronomy company that produced a children's toy called StarPilot in collaboration with the Young Scientists Club and sold 10,000 units. In 2007 wrote the business plan for PeraHealth which helps improve the quality of care in hospitals through an index that allows clinicians to observe overall patient health trends over time. The Rothman Index is a single score that is calculated for a patient using 26 common metrics that are already available in a hospital’s Electronic Health Record system. This creates an easily understood picture of the patient’s condition so that physicians and nurses can spend more time treating patients, and this turns out to reduce overall mortality in the hospital by 30%. It is installed at 96 hospitals and growing.During this time, I also earned my Healthcare Executive MBA at UC Irvine.I then helped build Mymee - a company which improves the quality of life and reduces the cost of care for people suffering from chronic autoimmune diseases through a 16-week adaptive tele-coaching program.Since the CityMD sale I am also angel investing through Mid-Atlantic Bio Angels and Empire Angels.Select investments include: Reification Inc, Opsidio LLC, and POP MedicalSpecialties: Business Development, Healthcare, Health IT, Strategic Planning, Scenario Modeling, Innovation, Operational Optimization
Listed skills include Start Ups, Healthcare, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Planning, and 45 others.
