For over thirty years, Daniel S. Brown has served higher education as a teacher and administrator. He has concurrently provided communication counsel to several nonprofit organizations. He is a communication generalist who has expertise with public speaking, public relations campaigns, newsletters, writing for the media, and fundraising. Ministry experience: Daniel served on a church pastoral staff where he was responsible for relationship building through senior ministries, hospital and hospice visitations, pastoral counseling, and new member assimilation. Along with his family, he has hosted ongoing small faith-based group gatherings as a lay leader in his home. Academic Specialties: Dr. Brown focuses on communication education and administration. Brown specializes in communication theory and rhetorical criticism. Other areas he teaches are writing, journalism, editing, and professional speaking skills. Research and writing interests: He focuses (1) on developing Hope Analysis, an application of Snyder's Hope Theory to the communication studies and (2) on interfaith communication. He is the editor of the first two books (and currently the only books) on interfaith communication to arise from his area of academic expertise, communication studies. His current book project provides a look at the historic connections between the religious right and racial segregation.
