About Daniel Schmitz

Senior Researcher at the Freight Transport Laboratory - LTC (COPPE/UFRJ) and at the Brazilian Institute for Sustainable Transport - IBTS (partner). PhD in Transport Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Coppe / UFRJ). Master in Transportation Engineering at the Engineering Military Institute (IME). MBA in Logistics at the University Center of Maringá. Graduated in Production Engineering from the Salgado Oliveira University. Technician in road transportation from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology. Autor of 81 papers (24 in indexed journal) and three books chapters, two of them in IBGE book called “Brasil em números”. Five awards of best paper in National Congress in Transportation. Experience in the follow areas: energy-climate models for baseline and prospective scenarios for the transport sector; electric and hybrid mobility; urban and regional public passenger transport, specifically in the government and municipal tariff policy; planning and analysis of transport planning research. In this context, I have held several positions as a researcher and consultant with public and private entities such as MDR; MCTIC; Ministry of Economy; ABDI; FBMC; Fetranspor; IBTS; IME; CHALK; FGV; WWF; Greenpeace; IDB, ICS; Climate Works Foundation; Climate Center; BYD; River bus; Royal Dutch Shell and Fundo Verde / UFRJ; Municipalities and public passenger transport companies by bus. I also have experience as postgraduate professor in Engineering at Cândido Mendes University and FTEC. I worked in areas of private initiative such as PPCP and logistics (Garcia Salles) and Control and IT solutions (Juiz de Fora City Hall)
