I am the architect responsible for the Master Data Management solution at TIAA. Our MDM solution is built on the IBM Infosphere MDM platform. Domains mastered include Customer, Prospect, Location, Household, and Product, with relationships to Account and Beneficiary. The MDM platform is integrated with over 280 enterprise and third party systems. Our implementation is designed and managed to achieve 24x7 uptime with DR capability, handling a volume of 1.14 billion transactions annually.I collaborate closely with business stakeholders, application owners, and my team’s business analysts, technical leads, and developers to extend the capabilities of our platform and related systems to meet business requirements. I engage with the Technology Architecture Governance Working Group to review designs and ensure that our platform and integrations follow established architectural standards.Recent work: Designed a new automated householding process for 8 million customers and prospects. This process eliminated the need for an external data broker and achieved $360K annual savings in licensing fees.Partnered with business units, Data Governance, and IBM Global Consulting resources to migrate our MDM implementation from deterministic matching to probabilistic matching. Defined matching criteria and match thresholds to improve our automated match results, resolving 40,000 previously unmatched duplicate Customer records, while reducing the number of suspect matches requiring clerical review by 50%.Collaborated with General Counsel and business stakeholders to develop solutions for California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) compliance.I am currently working with Enterprise Data Architecture to define new logical data models for the Customer, Location, and Household domains. Our focus is on standardization and simplification, prioritizing ease of use for our downstream analytical consumers.

2001-2006 - Architect on the Customer Information File (CIF) project, a large multi-year Master Data Management project to build a gold copy repository and administrative UI for customer data from administrative systems across MetLife. Technologies used included IBM Websphere MDM, WebSphere Application Server, UDB, and WebSphere Message Broker. CIF was successfully deployed in production in 2003 and subsequently integrated with nearly all Retail Life administrative systems at MetLife.2007-2009 - Promoted to Utility Services Lead Architect in 2007. I managed 5 architects while retaining architectural ownership of CIF project components as detailed above.2010-2012 - Lead Architect of the Shared Services team, managing 2 architects with responsibility for Integration Services, Individual Business Security and Entitlements, and Imaging and Workflow.2013 - Lead Architect within the RAD Americas Enterprise Architecture Data Group. I had responsibility for the Global Party Management project, an initiative that builds on the CIF project (see above), extending its reach to include the rest of the enterprise: Property & Casualty, Broker Dealer and Group Life administrative systems. Global Party Management included 70 million Customer records in total.

Led teams of technical consultants through all phases of design and development on various Java/J2EE development projects for Westvaco, Cargill, and other clients, working with business stakeholders up to and including C-level executives.

As a consultant with Lotus Consulting (later integrated into IBM Global Services,) I designed and built large-scale client/server systems using Lotus Notes/Domino, Java, and web technologies for clients including McGraw-Hill, Reckitt & Colman, and Revlon.

Iris Associates was the startup founded by Ray Ozzie where Lotus Notes was created. I was a member of the core Lotus Notes product development team. Primary responsibilities included design and coding of the Lotus Notes client application in C and C++.
