The role of Technical Facilities Team Lead is a key enabler for the delivery of Orica’s innovation strategy. Key areas of accountability include:- the management of Orica's global bulk explosives research and technology development facilities including explosives development laboratories, pilot plant production facilities, explosive test facilities, magazines, fleet vehicles and mobile manufacturing unit.- Administering the global technology roadmapSpecifically, this role includes:- Leading a high performance team of multi-disciplinary professionals - Managing a diverse asset pool, fixed-cost and capital budgets to ensure sustained safe and efficient operations- Developing projects and initiatives to improve technical capability - Embedding human-centred design and Agile principles in projects, and operations- Leading hazard studies, including HAZOPs, HIRACs and semi-quantitative risk assessments - Developing plant maintenance strategies and overseeing their implementation - Leading (ICAM) incident investigations

Key tasks and responsibilities:- Leading a multi-disciplinary professional team - Managing research and development, new product development and quality control testing facilities, programs and staff - Managing manufacturing process, plant and product optimisation. - Managing environmental process and obligations. - Producing and delivering technical reports and presentations to the CEO, Board of Directors, factory manager, other staff, production floor staff and external stakeholders.- Developing and submitting applications for State and Federal Government grant funding opportunities.- Resolving large customer technical disputes- Developing technical literature- Managing the organisations ISO 9001 certified quality management systems and non-certified environmental management systems.- Modeling process and plant operation and efficiency and developing optimisation plans. - Developing and conducting corporate and process life cycle assessments.

Key tasks and responsibilities:- The prompt and accurate delivery of QA/QC technical results in a fast paced, high pressure production facility.- Developing and delivering a technical training presentations for other staff- Working closely with shop floor personnel to problem solve production issues- Setting up MS Access Databases including VB coding- Covering the national technical hotline when required- Extensive, sophisticated analytical testing - Assuming responsibility for all technical product requirements- Setting up new analytical methods - Maintaining and calibrating sophisticated analytical instrumentation- Maintaining a high level of integrity and accuracy for all results in NATA accredited facility- Providing technical information to other departments- Liaising with business counterparts- Assisting in the new product development process
