Data analyst with 7+ years industry experience in data processing, analysis, visualization, management, and survey development.I’m skilled at assessing complex business needs and identifying the steps needed to produce data driven solutions. I enjoy thinking creatively about the constraints that stem from a lack of resources, audience variety, and poor data quality. My passion for data analytics along with my background in psychology led me to the field of Work Environment Analytics, an industry focused on assessing the impact of the work environment on employees. We examine how the design of the office space, cross-functional adjacencies, and technology impact employee productivity, satisfaction, and sense of community. While my current role focuses on the effect of the work environment on employees, I am also interested in better understanding how broader work culture elements such as, leadership communication, trust in the organization, and manager relationships impact engagement, retention, and innovation. I am a heavy user of open source software and strongly support its mission. I am active on a variety of Q&A sites (Stack Overflow, Twitter, etc.) and open source cloud hosting (GitHub) with the intent to provide support and resources to those who are developing within the field of analytics. I'm currently open to opportunities for data analyst positions in San Francisco or New York. I can be reached at dhseneca@gmail.com or through LinkedIn. Technical Skills: Advanced R, SQL, git, Tableau, Qualtrics (Research Core Certified).

Data Analyst | Workplace Effectiveness: Data AnalyticsGenentech Jun 2016 - PresentSouth San Francisco, California, UsThe Workplace Effectiveness (WE) department is tasked with creating innovative ways of helping employees do their best work. We strive to enhance the work experience by creating optimal work environment designs, implementing technology tools, and developing collaborative social practices. As a Data Analyst, my primary responsibilities consist of data processing, analysis, and visualization using R and SQL. I also program manage a variety of data projects, assist in the design of our AWS architecture, and construct and distribute all surveys. My accomplishments include:-Constructed and distributed a work environment survey for 10k+ employees using the Qualtrics survey platform. Data was processed, analyzed, and presented to various stakeholders, including executive level officers. All survey data was managed using a rigorous employee privacy protocol, which included hashing of personal identifiers. Survey is currently being distributed on a quarterly basis and is being used to monitor the effectiveness of the work environment.-Designed the database model for all survey data, which consists of 500+ unique questions. Question coding was designed to allow for effective scaling, question versioning, and intuitive relationships between similar questions.-Assisted in the migration of the data platform from Oracle to Amazon Web Services, to create a more efficient data pipeline, application flexibility, and reduce data center cost.-Implemented version control standards for the WEA team. Created regulations around version tagging, branch relationships and development, and commit comments to ensure a more readable and sustainable git history. Trained employees on the inner workings of git through command line and github interface.-Developed a survey analysis workflow using API functionality which increased the speed at which we could provide reports to clients, and reduced the need to spend thousands of dollars on complex dashboards. -
Intern | Workplace EffectivenessGenentech Jun 2015 - May 2016South San Francisco, California, UsAs a research analyst intern on the Neighborhood Work Environment team, my role was to quantitatively assess the effectiveness of these work environments and provide recommendations for managerial action by:-Performed statistical analysis on a variety of raw office space utilization data sources, including wifi activity, employee badge swipes, and occupancy sensors. Determined there is a predictive relationship between number of employees and office space utilization, which led to developing a targeted approach to further densify, resulting in cost savings and creation of adjacent space for groups who need to work together. -Coordinated survey distributions for participants who move from traditional work environments to shared work environments. Over 2000 participants have been surveyed both pre and post move to assess the effectiveness of various work environments. Engaged with move group client representatives to construct group specific survey timelines, survey communications, and ensure an efficient delivery process and exceptional customer experience.-Constructed a five-year parking forecast examining the relationship between parking supply and demand, as well as current and projected parking utilization. Analysis on this 60-building, 10,000 employee campus was used to determine size and location of future parking solutions.-Designed a pilot gamification program to drive adoption of new work environment practices and implemented the program with ~100 employees. Monitored the pilot program and analyzed participant behavior and engagement. Program was adopted as part of the Neighborhood Work Environment platform. -
