About Daniel Shaw-Dennis
Daniel has over 20 years experience in technology transformation and accelerating growth in new territories. Combined with a deep background in leveraging data for competitive advantage and x1 successful exit. Enjoying the occasional keynote🎙 and a frequent coffee. Daniel began his career with the National Australia Bank (NAB) graduate program, part of the biggest data warehouse team in the southern hemisphere. Shortly after he was part of a start-up consulting firm, working with some of the biggest organisations in Asia Pacific, including CGU Insurance, RMIT, and Lion Nathan. In his mid 20's went abroad with a backpack and a train ticket, travelling the world and landed at a consulting firm in London. Here he successfully led transformation projects across the UK and Europe, at organisations including UBS, Mitsubishi, and Lloyds of London. Two years later he began to work for himself, consulting to several organisations across Europe and Australasia including Warner Bros, adidas and Australia Post. For the last 11 years, Daniel has led in the growth story of Yellowfin BI, from start-up to a successful exit 🚀 . This began by establishing some of Yellowfin’s largest initial customers and building the foundation for global expansion.Utilising his European experience, he become the first General Manager for EMEA and in 2 years grew the region from 10 customers & 3 partners to over 75 partners & 200+ customers in 35 countries, with triple-digit revenue growth YOY.Once EMEA was established Daniel took on the role of accelerating awareness, as Marketing and Strategy SVP. Establishing the global marketing team, developing the Yellowfin GTM, automating global operations and integrating new marketing channels. He was also responsible for the Product Marketing and Analyst Relations teams. This included rebranding and positioning of Yellowfin, multiple global product launches and achieving record industry awareness which culminated in moving into 'Visionary' for Gartner's Magic Quadrant in 2020.Daniel went onto a Strategic Sales and Partnerships role, building the commercial models for the Yellowfin ISV channel (70%+ of global revenue), GTM for new products and working with Yellowfin's largest partners productising their data. Daniel established technology alliances with Microsoft, AWS and Snowflake to further accelerate growth.Daniel was part of the team that completed the successful sale of Yellowfin to Idera Inc in Feb '22. He continues to focus on accelerating growth and is an active advisor and mentor in the Australian startup community.
