In this role I develop website content for national ‘Tanfeedh’ initiative on behalf of Oman Sail and the Ministry of Tourism, which requires the combined efforts of three parties to be aligned to a single goal. Working closely with an external web development team, I produced content to set up the initial launch of the website ahead of schedule and have since been providing assistance for the ongoing development and maintenance of Oman's national events calendar portal.

I create content from supplied briefs for for quarterly magazines at two of the company's destinations. This requires editing, revision and interpretation of the supplied bullet points, interview answers and editorial suggestions from the in-house Marketing team, and transforming the outline into an article for publication. Each magazine has a strict deadline where effective time management is essential.

In this role, the first dedicated English writing position in the company's history, I was tasked with generating original, informative and creative content to publicise Oman Sail's activities to a wider audience as part of the Ministry of Tourism's targets. Tasks included streamlining and modernising the company website, marketing collateral, news stories, features, official speeches and event reporting.My work had to accurately represent the company, its goals, its role in the Government of Oman's strategy and the impact Oman Sail has on the community.In this role I learned how to sail a Bahia class dinghy, how to manage a variety of Content Management Systems, how to tailor reporting for local, international and specialist publications and achieved a high level of media coverage - including several front page and full page stories.The role is much more than writing about sailing. Oman Sail is a force for ongoing social and community development within the country, tourism promotion, education and community engagement. My background in sports writing and PR, as well as an understanding of the culture in Oman, has been invaluable in defining what this role is now and could become in the future.

I developed English content for a number of large clients representing a wide range of sectors including telecommunications, mining and heavy industry, oil and gas, hotel chains, food and beverage companies and car companies.I proof read and corrected English content written by others to ensure grammatical and contextual accuracy. I was responsible for aligning English editorial content with Arabic content. In the event that an editorial is translated into English from Arabic, it is critical that the translation is accurate and that the final edited version reads as if it has been originally written in English. It was vital that I understood the editorial requirements of my clients, including specialist vocabulary and terminology, technical, financial and market background. My English editorial output had to be newsworthy, engaging, accurate, well-written and according to client briefs.

I managed the public relations for a number of national, multinational and regional clients across a wide range of industries including tourism, real estate, finance and sport.I provided a weekly media report to show the impact of the client's PR compared to its competitors and provided options for future growth.I assisted in developing a social media presence and updating the current social media profile.
