He worked over a decade as an analyst, paraplanner and operations manager before taking the leap and opening up his own advisory firm in 2015. In the nonprofit sector, Dan has been a founding member of two charter schools: as a founding board member with Old Town Academy (a K-8 charter in San Diego) and as a teacher with Democracy Prep at the Agassi Campus in Las Vegas. Additionally, Dan is the treasurer of Athletic Initiative, Inc, a 501(c)3 organization which has provided more than 1,000 inner-city youth with free sports programs, trips to Padres games and even barbecues.Dan is also a bestselling author. His book “You’re not Welcome Here: Exclusionary Practices in the Game of Baseball” was published by Barnes and Noble Press on 9/23/2022 and achieved bestseller status on 10/14/2022. The book covers topics such as racism, sexism and homophobia in baseball and reached the #1 position in the sports books section bestseller list at Barnes and Noble. Dan currently lives in Las Vegas, is chair of the Social Studies department and Athletic Coordinator at Explore Academy. Additionally, Dan teaches finance courses and is a Lead Faculty Area Chair at the University of Phoenix. His wife Leslie is a doctor of Acupuncture and they have two kids, aged 2 (almost) and 7.
