Currently, I am the Lead Engineer for Lockheed Martin’s MK6 ChinookSTSF.. As the lead engineer and SME for the simulators. I provide vitalknowledge and understanding of the devices and their systems. This allowsme to ensure that we maximise up-time, manage projects efficiently andprovide consultation to Lockheed Martin’s senior management andengineers. Alongside my technical skills I manage a team of technicians andthe day to day running of the facility. This requires me to be proactive andforward plan. I oversee multiple projects at any one time, which gives me theopportunity to wear many hats and grow my experience.

This role involves providing maintenance for Lockheed Martin’s Chinook simulators based at RAF Odiham. As this is a niche role, commonly there are issues that arise that haven’t been seen before and therefore require an experienced mind to logically assess, diagnose and rectify faults within the devices. Some issues have required parts which aren’t readily available so to ensure maximum uptime I have manufactured parts with tools and materials to hand, such as using CAD and 3D printers, taking measurements of live Chinooks or modifying existing parts to accurately represent the aircraft.Computer literacy is equally essential in this role and I have valued experience in software installation, system updates and diagnosis, script writing, data retrieval and comfortably navigating Windows and Linux systems. As Shift Lead, I was responsible for my team and ensuring the devices were serviceable for the aircrew to use at all times.
