After working in product development and manufacturing for 18 years, I refocused my career on Intellectual Property.I am currently an attorney with Neal, Gerber, & Eisenberg. My practice expertise includes U.S. patent drafting, prosecution, and litigation in technical fields including: software, chemistry, automotive, electronics, power distribution, advanced materials, industrial and process controls, power generation, HVAC, sensors, electromagnetic actuators, camera mechanisms, motors, and medical devices. I am also experienced prosecuting inbound foreign applications and with foreign patent prosecution, which each present their own unique challenges. I am also active in all stages of patent litigation, including invalidity and non-infringement analysis and investigations, fact and expert discovery, and damages analysis. I also have experience in drafting petitions for Inter Partes Review and in conducting due-diligence review of patent portfolios. I also have some experience in trademark practice.Before beginning my legal career, I worked as a practicing engineer, focusing on research and development, product development, and manufacturing. My engineering experience includes design and manufacturing of high-voltage electrical equipment, medical equipment, and consumer electronics. Because of my engineering experience, I can quickly grasp clients’ technologies and how those technologies fit their businesses. This enables me to capture the true value of intellectual property in both patent prosecution and litigation.
