My life is at its most rewarding when I can do more than one of these at the same time.I have a wide variety of experience and skills that can be applied to diverse types of work and organizations.Project Management:As Artistic Producer of the Moving Target Theatre Company, former president of several boards and recently with Daniel McIntyre/St Matthews Community Association and Friends of Sherbrook Pool, I have over 15 years of experience seeing projects through from inception to completion.Education and Facilitation:I co-founded and co-facilitate Jolly Apple Day Camp. We lead campers age 2 - 12 in week-long sessions with themes such as Farm and Film Camp and Mystery Adventure Camp.I also lead workshops in Theatre for Living, a fun, participatory issue-based theatre style that empowers communities to talk and think and learn creatively about the struggles they face.I have chaired over 100 meetings for numerous organizations. I have experience facilitating difficult (or challenging) conversations and diffusing conflicts.Communication:I recently worked as Communication and Outreach Coordinator at DMSMCA. In my theatre work, I am responsible for marketing and publicity, building personal and organizational relationships, media outreach and press releases, working with designers to develop promotional materials, website maintenance and social media. I have built a wide network of friends and supporters in Winnipeg and across the country.Financial Management and Administration:I have extensive experience and an impressive track record in grant writing, fundraising and creating and managing budgets. I have worked as a Treasurer and Volunteer Co-ordinator. I have managed logistics of all sorts with a strong eye for detail, and an ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot creatively and effectively.

    As Artistic Producer, I am responsible for every element of professional theatre productions, from inception to completion. I hire all artistic and production staff, which includes negotiating and signing contracts and composing legally binding letters of agreement, paying staff in a timely manner, booking venues, organizing national tours and liaising with presenting companies across the country.My job includes promotion, publicity and marketing. I write copy for posters, handbills, newspaper ads and press releases. I conceive, plan and supervise promotional photo shoots, scouting and securing locations. I work closely with photographers and graphic designers from concept to completion. I create PSAs, exchange advertising with a wide network of other arts organizations, create and edit radio ads and arrange poster printing and distribution. I maintain a database of supporters and another database of funders. I compose and distribute newsletters using MailChimp and maintain a website using Wordpress. I have done over 50 radio, TV and web interviews all over Canada and the US.

    As a Workshop Leader, I have facilitated over 30 community workshops in Theatre for Living, a style of issue-based theatre that engages a community and empowers them to tell their stories, gain insight and plan for a better future. Partners have ranged from elementary, middle school and high school students to university students to 40 adults in the City of Winnipeg's “Future of Crime Prevention Through Social Development” Conference, including the city's then-Police Chief. Through this work, I have gained confidence and extensive experience speaking to and leading groups. Partners have included the Winnipeg International Storytelling Festival, Wolseley Family Place, City of Winnipeg, Peaceful Village, Manitoba Theatre for Young People/Aboriginal Arts Program and others.

Themes include Mystery Adventure Camp, in which participants formed a detective agency and uncovered an interactive week-long mystery, Farm and Film Camp, in which participants wrote and shot a short movie, Food Fun and Water Weirdness, in which participants participated in relay races, toured a local bakery, made lunches together and more.

    This was a shared position composed of two half-time positions: Communications and Outreach at Daniel McIntyre/St Matthews Community Association and Co-ordinator of Friends of Sherbrook Pool.At DMSMCA, I was responsible for planning, organizing and promoting community events, producing and editing our newsletter, Front Porch News and our community newspaper, Our West Central Times, together with Spence Neighbourhood Association and a dedicated group of volunteers.At FOSP, I was the one paid staff person working for a volunteer board to support, create and promote programming at the Kinsmen Sherbrook Pool, Winnipeg's oldest public swimming pool, which re-opened in January 2017 after a more-than-4-year closure. I co-ordinated Kidswim: a free swimming lesson program which is always full to capacity with local youth, most of whom are Newcomers to Canada. I also worked with FOSP, the City of Winnipeg's Aquatics department and a network of community organizations on the Collaborative Programming committee, in which community groups work with the city to conceive and plan programming at the pool.As FOSP's only employee, I was responsible for everything, from financial management and grant applications to scheduling board meetings, composing and sending out a draft agenda to planning community events, along with the board and other volunteers.
