After Barings embarked on a cloud first strategy in mid 2021, I joined to refine and deliver on the strategy. This involved building a team with an agile, automation focused ethos that works closely with development teams and stakeholders. This is building a true DevSecOps culture with a long-term vision of self-sufficient, autonomous teams. Aligned to the value streams, they will be able to build, manage and maintain the delivery applications adding to business value. Daniel manages a team of DevOps engineers to design and build infrastructure at scale. All environments utilise Cloud technologies and scripting to make them repeatable and scalable. Projects include:Major world broadcaster – Building and running an application to allow employees to understand their pension schemes and plan for their retirement. The application leveraged AWS cloud to scale and model 100s of possible financial scenarios to the users in real time. Daniel was the infrastructure architect, designing and building the environments and automation for the system.KPMG Small Business Accounting (SBA) – KPMG’s accounting services provided “as a Service” to small to medium enterprises. SBA leverages a cloud platform to enable a cost-effective and scalable delivery of the service to 1000s of clients and end users. Daniel was the DevOps engineer building the infrastructure and automating all the major components from a scalability and resilience perspective.Civil Service Learning (CSL) – Back office system for all Civil service staff to book on to courses and manage their learning. The system also centralised and streamlined the payment and administrative processes for sending staff on training. Daniel was the infrastructure architect, designing and building the environments. Daniel also managed the third party suppliers for application support and maintenance.

I have been responsible for designing and delivering Cloud infrastructure on both AWS and Azure for clients including: McLaren, Civil service, lloyds. , I work closely with development teams to deliver projects in an inclusive manor to better understand the applications requirements. This DevOps process allows both myself and the team better understand the application as it is and where it is going. Part of the role has included the implementations of a CI / CD tool chain to allow the development and automated deployment of systems both simple and complex
