I am a Chartered Architect who has extensive specialist healthcare sector knowledge in the consultancy and design of healthcare facilities. As Head of Healthcare, I am responsible for business development and the overall design management of healthcare and biosciences facilities.Healthcare consultancy, design and construction experience has been gained across a comprehensive range of primary, secondary, tertiary and mental health facilities, along with biosciences developments. This has been achieved both in the public and private sectors, covering: consultancy/advisory services; medical planning; estate planning; new builds; extensions; and, remodelling/refurbishments.I have been engaged in delivering projects under Framework agreements, through both Client and developer/contractor organisations. This includes successfully delivering repeat projects under the Procure 21(+) framework. I am a strong advocate of the Partnering ethos, and was innovative in piloting the new BE Collaborative Contract on a new maternity hospital. I also have extensive experience of administering traditional contracts and managing (packaged) design & build construction information.I have delivered projects via the Public Private Partnership procurement route, both as: a Technical Advisor to the Client; and, as a design consultant for the Special Purpose Vehicle. Projects extend to the £210m PFI reprovision of a District General Hospital on a constrained site, requiring a complex Development Control Plan to be produced. I have also acted as Due Diligence technical advisor on many hospital schemes across England and Northern Ireland.

During an extended period working across the Middle East I was responsible for developing an international healthcare portfolio. Projects included: developing an appropriate city-wide health service provision model for a major developer; leading the front-end medical planning for what is anticipated to be the world’s largest private hospital; and, leading a global team providing consultancy services to a developer of a major international private bio-medical campus supported by a high-value mixed-use development. Through the development of international healthcare projects, I have a broad knowledge of different global hospital design standards and the cultural differences applied in various territories.Also was Design/Project Director for Atkins' International Portfolio, winning and delivering a diverse range of major building, masterplanning and infrastructure projects in global territories where Atkins has no permanent establishment. Locations focussed upon Turkey, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia but also included Libya, Azerbaijan, Angola, and the wider North Africa and SE Asia regions.

A Panel member providing independent advice, guidance and support to the NHS at key stages during the design development process of major hospital investment schemes. Undertook reviews on numerous hospitals across the Midlands and Southern England, until the Panel was disbanded by Department of Health.
