Dan has spent most of his career at Gorove Slade. After starting as a Transportation Engineer with the company almost 25 years ago, he quickly worked his way to Project Manager, Director of Engineering for the DC office, and then Principal. Today as a Vice President and Senior Principal, Dan’s role is to oversee the company’s marketing team, mentor the next generation of Principals, and support strategic efforts that foster company growth. He does this by leveraging his diverse project experience, robust professional network, and keen interest to see those in his orbit succeed.Over his years of experience Dan has worked for public, private and institutional clients throughout the United States and internationally, on a variety of land uses and master plans. His primary geographic market focus most recently has been projects in the District of Columbia, Arlington County and the City of Alexandria. Dan has always been drawn to the urban context where creating human-scale and walkability are a priority. He appreciates the conversation that happens around our projects in those areas and knowing that everyone sees themselves as a transportation “expert” keeps it fun.Dan is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, the DC Building Industry Association, NAIOP Northern Virginia, Lamba Alpha International GW Chapter, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He has hosted webinars, assisted in the classroom, and actively seeks to mentor those in the industry and give back to the community.He is a West Virginia native, adopted Panamanian by marriage, and calls Alexandria home today. He and his wife met in the Dual Degree Engineering program at Washington University in St. Louis. They have two children and an American Bulldog. They love spending time together as a family enjoying all the rich amenities of the DC area and traveling abroad to discover new places when they get the opportunity.
