My role within Westward Housing Group was a newly created one, the aim of which was to identify and secure new streams of fundraising to facilitate innovation and improvement within Westward Support Services and to support the implementation of the Community Investment Strategy. The role also involved the creation and implementation of a fundraising strategy for the organisation.The role involved: • Researching potential suitable trust donors• Developing compelling and effective cases for supporting Westward Support Services• Making tailored applications to large trusts, as well as lottery and some government funders, ensuring that applications match the interests and giving potential of each funder, as well as the organisational objectives of Westward Support • Keeping up to date with funding needs and operational developments through regular meetings with WSMT and service managers• Contributing to the development, planning and implementation of the fundraising strategy• Liaising with internal and external stakeholdersI worked with Westward as a Fellow of the CharityWorks programme.

CharityWorks is a highly competitive leadership development programme which runs with the aim of helping graduates launch a successful career in the non-profit sector, through paid 12 month placements in participating organisations. The programme is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management.I competed against over 4,000 applicants for one of 120 placements with the scheme. For my placement, I worked as a Support and Community Investment Fundraiser with Westward Housing Group.
