Qa Test Engineer Ii
Qa Engineer
Qa Tester - Horizon Team/Scripting Specialist
Horizon is the first game Oculus has made internally. It's a social space/open-world game with an emphasis on UGC (User generated Content). When I first joined the Horizon QA team, my responsibilities weren't all that different from those I performed on the Spatial AI team. Each day, I performed a series of tests on the latest build of Horizon, checked for bugs, attempted reproduction of bugs reported by dogfood testers, etc. This also included examining the test plans for any systems not sufficiently covered. This led to my discovery that the UGC mode, called World Builder, had far more features than were covered by the test plan. When I tried to find any sort of documentation with a full list of features we would to test, I discovered that there weren't any.Through my enterprise and initiative, I ended up writing the first drafts of what has since become the official user reference and programming language documentation for World Builder. The documents were intended originally as a tool for QA reference and onboarding and they were written in my spare time. However, when the UX team started work on the official reference material, my work was used as the basis and they asked for my input. In the process of writing these documents, I also increased collaboration and strengthened communication between the QA team, the developers, and the UX team by being willing and able to speak in each team's respective languages. My documentation efforts, along with my prior programming experience, eventually led to me serving as the resident scripting specialist for the QA team. Any bugs or feedback related to World Builder's scripting system were passed to me for reproduction, documentation, and triage. If anyone in QA needed help understanding how to do something in World Builder, especially with scripting, they'd come to me for help. Meanwhile, if any of the developers needed QA to test some technical feature, they'd also often come to me.
Qa Tester- Spatial Ai Team/ Quest And Rift S
Full time QA tester on the Spatial AI team. While on this team, I tested the tracking features of Oculus's newest products, the Quest and Rift S. Together, these headsets were the first Oculus systems to use inside-out tracking; they needed thorough testing of everything from if the headsets could track themselves and their controllers consistently during play to whether they can remain accurate under different lighting conditions, gameplay scenarios, postures, orientations, etc.As part of this effort, I worked on periodic test passes performed on these devices. This meant performing the individual tests, reporting any defects or test failures, recovering relevant tracking data from the headsets, and filing bug reports with clear and concise descriptions. I would also perform ad hoc/exploratory tests to find other systems, edge-cases, or bugs not covered by the test plans.Handling sensitive, NDA-protected data and devices.Perform tests according to test plans.Performed exploratory ad hoc test cases to find new bugs or potential blind spots in our test plans.Write test plans and test cases against engineering-specified criteria.Review product documentation for accuracy, clarity, consistency, completeness, and compliance.Ensure the quality of software, hardware, and firmware.Interface with development team on an 'as needed' basis.Support the launch of new products and software/firmware updates.Make recommendations to improve product reliability and performance.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.Experience with testing client/server distributed applications.Attention to detail and strong documentation and communication skills.Proficiency with Virtual Reality headset and hand controllers.Experience using an ADB (Android Debug Bridge) shell to interface with the VR headsets.Experience working with Excel/Google Sheets/Quip Spreadsheets.Experience using a Facebook-proprietary test plan system.

Software Developer
I worked on coding an interactive educational application for LearnUp, a client of Code For Good. This application is intended to help teach dyslexic children how to read using a game format reminiscent of whiteboard magnets. For this project, our team used Mongo, ExpressJS, NodeJS, ejs, and Javascript. Right now, the team is in the process of examining existing JS code written by a previous team for an earlier version of the project before using it as a basis for our project.
Gameplay Analyst
Gameplay analyst for an Independent pc/mobile game project. This game is designed to raise awareness for victims of rape and sexual assault. My role was to evaluate the progression of mechanics over the course of the game, including the use of my proprietary game-play analysis system.

At the same time, went through all of the clients' files and folders to ensure that the files were organized, stored with the correct client, and weren't corrupted.
Junior Game Designer
Worked on a variety of projects including games for PC, mobile, and consoles, all of which were built using the Unity 3D game engine. As part of that I learned to use the Perforce networking system, the Uscript and Playmaker visual programming languages, the Mecanim and iTween animation systems, and intermediate knowledge of Autodesk Maya. Additionally, I produced multiple sales presentations in numerous media formats using the Adobe Creative Suite.Of particular importance, I learned game design analytics/game design science. With these techniques I did design work on multiple projects, most notably Afro Samurai 2.During my time as a full-time employee, my workload included the camera system for multiple levels, grey box prototyping multiple levels, and scripting audio events and various event triggers, along with continuing much of the work from my part-time and intern workloads.
Junior Game Designer: Part-Time
Before I became a full-time employee, my duties included the duties I had as an intern along with managing the import and troubleshooting of the original Afro Samurai game's asset library, performing gameplay analysis of the progression of the levels, and using Unity's state machine to manage scripted events in the game (such as transitioning to a cutscene).
Intern: Game Design
As an intern, I would playtest various levels while performing gameplay analysis. I also would work on the main design team brainstorming various mechanic and level progression ideas.
