Athabasca Field Program 2019-2020 - Sonic Drilling Rig Monitor -Monitor and provide geological field support to sonic overburden drilling and mud rotary resource drilling-Gather glacial overburden data in core descriptions and characteristics, core photos, depth corrections, core stretch corrections. -Identifying well termination zones for determining Fort McMurray (Km) Formation tops. -Described Quaternary material, Pleistocene glacial deposits, and fluvial and marine deposits of the Cretaceous period.-Install geotechincal, instruments including vibrating wire piezometers (VWP), slope inclinometers (SI), and monitoring and pumping wells. -Identify zones of interest for geotechnical instrument installs. -Perform geotechnical tests and sampling, including Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) and Shelby tubes. -Participate in well abandonments/backfills with cement and/or bentonite. Mine Operations Support - Geotechnical and Construction Monitor -Provide geotechnical instrument monitoring and reading in the field on slope indicators (SI), vibrating wire piezometers (VWP), water standpipes (SP), and flow rates of water outtakes. -Perform trenching of VWP cables. -Troubleshoot problems with wireless or non-wireless data loggers. -Provide QA/QC and testing support to Imperial Kearl Mine Services or Construction Contractor. -Report to Imperial Geotechnical Field Engineer regarding civil construction activities, perform PNG densometer and moisture testing, and report geotechnical concerns. -Monitor construction of mine overburden disposal areas, haul roads/ramps, material stockpiles, and external tailings areas.

My responsibilities relied on knowledge of the McMurray, Clearwater, and Waterways Formations, and Pleistocene glacial units while in the lab and the field. I had used this knowledge for core logging to identify lithological facies, geotechnical concerns, geophysical depth correction, and digitizing the data with PowerCore for subsequent geologic modeling. Fieldwork includes monitoring overburden and ore drilling in the Wood Buffalo area, combining duties in sample collection, core descriptions, and identifying well termination facies/zones of interest. I have also monitored installations of downhole instruments such as vibrating-wire piezometers, slope inclinometers, and water-well standpipes from dual-rotary, mud-rotary, and sonic drilling rigs.

As a Well Log Analyst, I managed wireline data that was acquired by field crews and prepared the data for the client in electronic CD copies and paper copies. I ensured the legitimacy of well background information, and quality checked the data to meet the client's needs. Well logs follow the data submission guidelines set by the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) and Saskatchewan Government.

My roles were to assist servers in pouring and shaking drinks for customers in a timely and organised fashion, along with maintaining bar sanitation and supplies. It required skills in short-term and long-term memory as orders were all done verbally between servers and myself. The working environment is fast-paced, requiring concentration and a great deal of co-operation between myself and my colleagues to maintain clear lines of communication.
