[MSM] While performing duties as a Cyber Operations NCO, SSG West created and maintained an atmosphere of excellence that was felt throughout the entire CPB. SSG West made a tangible impact as the senior multidisciplinary subject matter expert for over fourteen defense cyber operations missions. During his tenure, SSG West was entrusted with the protection of global mission systems that covered over $1 billion of critical aerospace and defense networks and systems.SSG West continually participated in high-level initiatives utilizing unique and unparalleled subject-matter expertise. He was instrumental in technology and doctrine development, working directly with entities such as the National Security Agency-Georgia, Joint Force Headquarters-Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN), and Army Cyber. He served as a technical ambassador for the Cyber Protection Brigade (CPB) in industry and academia.SSG West pioneered the first iteration of the Army DoDIN Cyber Protection Team (CPT) Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). His work was instrumental in the development of TTPs at the CPT-level across the BDE, and briefed to the ARCYBER Commanding General.SSG West also led the initiative in the creation of the first DoDIN Tools and Scripting Working Group, which brought joint DoDIN CPTs together in a collaborative environment that strengthened relationships and enhanced capabilities between disparate cyber teams.SSG West meticulously dedicated himself to the betterment of the cyber force as a whole, the effects of which were seen DoDIN-wide. He personally prompted three compelling modifications to the deployment of HBSS as a Service, which is planned to be implemented DoD wide.SSG West discovered three serious unpublished vulnerabilities on embedded systems that affected systems used across the private and public sectors. He also played a pivotal role in working groups focused on determining future capabilities and directions for all CPTs.
