As Specialist Software Development I was responsible for the software architecture and development of the BMW Connected Drive Software Update. Main tasks of the job were:* Requirements and use-case analysis* Definition and documentation of the architecture* Technical lead* Implementation* Release planning and prioritisationTogether with a small distributed scrum team of internal and external developers we were responsible for the implementation and integration of the component into a given platform.

As technical project lead of the Early Access Program at Nokia in Helsinki I was responsible for the support of our partner developers and the integration of the development tools of the Nokia N9 into the Nokia SDK. Trainings around the world, coordination of the support with other teams in the US and China and live coding during the launch event in Singapore were part of the job.

In 2009 I started to work as software engineer in the Developer Platform team in Nokia MeeGo Devices, and I was responsible for the technical community support, mainly on Maemo.org. I helped 3rd party developers with their questions, presented tools and concepts in developer gatherings (Maemo Summit 2009, Maemo Barcelona Long Weekend, Mobile Dev Camp Helsinki, local University), helped on the documentation in the wiki and in general I was the interface between external and internal developers. Further I implemented as an open-source project the application downloader for the N900, which has been downloaded around 140.000 times by now.http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/appdownloader/

The project in Helsinki was about location aware services. The scope was a public trial, which offered different location-based services in Finland’s biggest shopping mall, called Kamppi. The implementation was divided into three major components:• Indoor positioning service • Web front-end (based on the Python web-framework Django)• Index server (based on Lucene)One of my responsibilities in the project was the integration of the positioning service into our architecture. The service offered a REST API and the user was identified by a Nokia account at both services. Further I implemented the Facebook integration, so that the user could see the Facebook friends on a map, who were using the service as well. Another part, which was my responsibility, was the implementation of a digital voucher system. The idea was that shops could enter digital vouchers in the system, by using an administration interface and that the user could request them.Besides the work in the project I wrote my Master Thesis about context aware application mashups. The goal was to find an architecture, which allows to describe REST services in an easy and standardized way, and to discover and combine them easily. The approach in the thesis is based on Microformats to describe the services and their parameters. The goal of the internship was the design of a web-service based architecture for the Nokia Linux-based Internet Tablets N800 and N810 and to implement different prototypes. Within the realization of the concepts, existing solutions had to be ported to the platform, server-components had to be set-up and implemented. Further, prototypes based on Python had to be implemented for the device. Different tasks, from the concept to the implementation were in my responsibility.
