This position involves managing the committee of 18 and required me to oversee the organisation of wide range of outdoor activities, socials, guest lectures and fundraising events. This role allowed me to develop into a strong and engaging public speaker, as the role of President requires me to represent the society by speaking in lectures and at our events.

As a Vice President, I was responsible for organising, risk assessing, advertising and running our Freshers activities and the society’s outdoor activities. When I was Vice-President I was part of a close-knit team that organised a 290 mile, human powered, Fundraising relay around Cornwall, which raised just under £4,000 for the charity ShelterBox.

During the past year I have worked mainly 6pm till midnight shifts. This means myself and the other staff member present are responsible for: completing wastage procedures, cashing up the tills, locking up the shop, returning unsold newspapers, serving customers, cleaning and restocking the shelves.

I was the Managing Director of my company which met weekly for 6 months and ran a stall on several weekends, our company bought in ear zip up earphones from a low cost foreign supplier, as we found the product was hard to buy in England. Our basic principle was to sell direct to the customer, through face to face sales and building up a social media presence, although we later sold in bulk to a local shop.
