As President, I was responsible for overseeing the continued growth and success of the Golden Key chapter at the University of Washington. I worked with the other officers to ensure events were efficiently planned and properly executed. As part of Golden Key's SPARK a Change initiative, aimed at helping at-risk youth in literacy, education, and real-world preparedness, our chapter launched a tutoring/mentorship program at Mary's Place -- a local non-profit that provides shelter and services for homeless families in Seattle. Then, by revamping our membership drive, I helped our chapter recruit a record number of new members, inducting more than double the number of new members we inducted in past years. Show less

As Historian I was responsible for keeping our files and records organized. I also revived our chapter's monthly newsletter, and created the design myself through Microsoft Publisher. I helped other officers plan and put on events. I also brought back the annual spring book drive with Better World Books. Through this I created a partnership with the University Bookstore and the Husky Union Building, and was able to collect over 2,500 books.

The Garden Lab is a neurology lab at the University of Washington that studies neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. I was responsible for lab maintenance and animal husbandry. I took care of our mouse colonies and ensured they were organized and well taken care of. I also dissected mice, extracted the microglia, ran gels, and sequenced DNA.

I worked with 4th and 5th grade students at B.F. Day Elementary School. I did one-on-one tutoring as well as small group tutoring. I worked mostly with students who were struggling in class. By taking students out of the classroom and working with them personally I was able to provide them with extra attention that allowed them to catch up with their classmates and reintegrate into the classroom.

I was responsible for filing and organization throughout the office. I revitalized the office filing system and made record keeping much more organized and efficient.

I started volunteering at the UW Medical Center as a patient escort. I transported patients throughout the hospital and kept them company as they were being discharged from the hospital. This experience exposed me to various departments of medicine. I then volunteered in the surgery pavilion, helping the hospital staff keep things sterile and organized. I was responsible for keeping patient files organized. I helped re-invent the clinics filing system. The clinic was in a period of transition, in which I assisted in transferring paper documentation for patients onto an online database.
