Empower and inspire tomorrow's leaders through two-semester sequence research methods courses. The courses have been designed to provide an understanding and appreciation of a scientific, analytic approach to building knowledge for practice and for evaluating multilevel service delivery; provides an overview of the research process, including problem formulation, sampling, design, measurement, data collection, data analysis and dissemination of findings; presents ethical standards of scientific inquiry with special attention to research with vulnerable and oppressed populations; reviews basic statistical univariate and bivariate descriptive and inferential tools for analyzing, interpreting and presenting data for decision making in generalist social work practice; and introduces methods for analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and further develops critical thinking skills in translating empirical research findings into generalist social work practice principles.

Serves as the Chief Business Officer for the School of Pharmacy, ensuring the effective management of the financial and administrative operations by supervising a business office team who provides support to a full range of business operation functions and budgets that include state, grant, local and foundation funds; serving as a liaison and resource to university administrators, deans, department chairs, directors, faculty, staff, students, and donors regarding financial and human resource matters; reviewing all financial activity in order to ensure proper fiscal controls and compliance with established policies; applying/interpreting established university, school, department financial and human resource policies, procedures and practices; overseeing and managing a central accounting system in conjunction with technology support staff; leading the School of Pharmacy in implementing VCU’s RCM budget model; serving as the school’s representative on relevant University, Health Sciences and School of Pharmacy committees; serving in strategic planning and school accreditation processes; and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in all actions and procedures.

Under the direction of the Dean and Director, serves as chief advisor regarding all financial matters of the Institute. Develops, disseminates, and enforces financial policies and procedures to faculty and staff. Develops and submits Institutional operating and capital outlay budget requests to the Governor and General Assembly for consideration. Serves as the state legislative liaison for VIMS. Researches, documents, and analyzes data related to ongoing and emerging issues of importance to the Institute and higher education, in general. Formulates and executes strategic financial and operational plans. Partners collaboratively and confidentially with department heads, faculty, and staff in facilitating resolutions of problems/issues in financial processes that impede efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Manage Institutional budget of over $50 million dollars from various funding sources.

Under the direction of the Director, provide day-to-day leadership for the finance and administration unit and assist with strategic planning/implementation for the department. Review current and past fiscal activity for accurate budget forecasting. Provide oversight of human resource activities for over 180 employees to include a diverse group of faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and student workers. Advise student leaders through daily interactions and innovative approaches to leadership development. Serve as a member of the department’s leadership team. Provide direct supervision, training, and evaluation for eight professionals.Manage departmental budget of over $10 million dollars from various funding sources.

Under the direction of the Department Administrator/Chief Administrative Officer and Department Chair, provided day-to-day leadership of the department which included finance and administration. Assisted with policy and procedure development/implementation as well as strategic planning/implementation. Processed fiscal transactions as well as human resource documents for a diverse group of faculty, staff, and graduate assistants. Instrumental in leadership development of all students and employees. Served as a member of the department’s leadership team. Provided direct supervision, training, and evaluation for four professionals.Managed departmental budget of approximately $80 million dollars, including grants, contracts, and foundation accounts.

School Of Medicine - Psychiatry

Under the direction of the Executive Director, provided institute oversight. Ensured faculty, staff, and students provided exemplar patient care. Instituted innovative approaches to increase study participation to avoid downsizing. Assisted with policy and procedure development/implementation as well as strategic planning/implementation. Served as a member of the division’s leadership team. Provided direct supervision, training, and evaluation for three professionals and four graduate assistants.Managed departmental budget of approximately $7 million dollars, including grants and contracts.

School Of Allied Health - Nurse Anesthesia; Massey Cancer Center

Under the direction of the Director of the Rural Cancer Outreach Program, Associate Director for Clinical Services, and Department Chair of Nurse Anesthesia, provided faculty, staff, and students with a well-coordinated educational experience that assessed their needs and followed through on their learning outcomes. Developed and executed alumni activities. Assisted with policy and procedure development/implementation as well as strategic planning/implementation. Served as member of leadership team. Provided direct supervision, training, and evaluation for five professionals.Managed departmental budget of over $8 million dollars, including state, grant, alumni foundation, and revenue from professional development workshops/conferences.
