Empower and inspire tomorrow's leaders through two-semester sequence research methods courses. Chief Business Officer (Assistant Vice President Finance)

Serves as the Chief Business Officer for the School of Pharmacy, ensuring the effective management of the financial and administrative operations by supervising a business office team who provides support to a full range of business operation functions and budgets that include state, grant, local and foundation funds; serving as a liaison and resource to university administrators, deans, department chairs, directors, faculty, staff, students, and donors regarding financial and human resource matters; reviewing all financial activity in order to ensure proper fiscal controls and compliance with established policies; applying/interpreting established university, school, department financial and human resource policies, procedures and practices; overseeing and managing a central accounting system in conjunction with technology support staff; leading the School of Pharmacy in implementing VCU’s RCM budget model; serving as the school’s representative on relevant University, Health Sciences and School of Pharmacy committees; serving in strategic planning and school accreditation processes; and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in all actions and procedures.

Under the direction of the Dean and Director, serves as chief advisor regarding all financial matters of the Institute. Develops, disseminates, and enforces financial policies and procedures to faculty and staff. Develops and submits Institutional operating and capital outlay budget requests to the Governor and General Assembly for consideration. Serves as the state legislative liaison for VIMS. Researches, documents, and analyzes data related to ongoing and emerging issues of importance to the Institute and higher education, in general. Formulates and executes strategic financial and operational plans. Partners collaboratively and confidentially with department heads, faculty, and staff in facilitating resolutions of problems/issues in financial processes that impede efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Manage Institutional budget of over $50 million dollars from various funding sources.
