Working with Dr. Wenji Dong on cardiac protein mapping to better understand the role of length-dependent activation of the cardiac muscles.

Assisted in the production of low-cost desktop learning modules (DLMs) for educational purposes. Worked on manufacturing small scale shell and tube heat exchangers using specialized lab equipment, and workshop tools for metal cutting and tubing. I also got to design CAD files and manufacture prototypes of a small-scale fluidized bed module.Part of the job also includes communicating with different higher education institutes in order to ship modules for in class use.

During my time as an intern for Amalgamated Sugar I was tasked with managing a project for the installation of a new industrial fire alarm safety system for the entire facility, which helped me further my experience in chemical/industrial safety systems. I got to work with many departments within the factory to determine critical areas for new equipment installation and communicated with outside contractors in order to determine the overall scope of the project. I also designed new CAD drawings of the facility and all existing equipment, as well as locations for new pull stations and horn/strobe units according to the most updated version of NFPA 72. My job as a project manager also included budgeting and designing Gantt charts using Microsoft Project.Another project I got to assist in was the design and implementation of new burner management systems (BMS) and combustion control systems (CCS) for a hybrid natural gas/coal pulp dryer. For that project, I was tasked with drawing maps of the existing electrical systems and designing a plan for the location of connection points and junction boxes for the new system. I also got to work on equipment research and acquisition, as well as equipment test sheets for safety inspections.
