Technical Support Engineer ( Present ) As a Technical support Engineer we are responsible for the installation of Helios Distribute Acoustic Sensing, We ensure to give clients good outcome and safety.Fiber Optic Technical Support. Responsible in maintaining good and outstanding work outcome. Installing fiber optic cable using OTDR and the most suitable tools, ensuring consistent adherence to all relevant policies, procedures and regulations Diligently maintaining fiber optic cable to a high standard of repair and managing end-to-end testing, if necessary, locating cable faults using OTDR before resolving the technical problem Conducting thorough power meter testing end-to-end using power meter and light source Performing fiber splicing, when necessary Opening / closing ODF trays with great care to avoid damaging or micro-bending pigtails / patch cords, also, mechanically splicing each fiber and conducting an OTDR test to check the quality of the mechanical splice Reading and interpreting cable tray drawings, linking patching work from cable data sheets and following cable tray routing / conduit paths Skilled in interpreting schematic fiber optics diagram Performing cable outages in accordance with the night schedule to reroute other links of the working system or change over system if cable damage is identified Diligently updating cable drawings and accurately recording test results, ensuring timely submission of documentation to superior personnel Independently allocated to work on sites and exchanges to rectify faults. Acts a preceptor and mentor to newly joined technicians to orient and demonstrate technical competencies in line with the department’s requirements Attending off duty outages and carrying out fiber optic repairs and maintenance during fault rectification and diversion.
