CurrentIn March 2020, I embarked on a significant career shift. Leaving my role at Cielo, Brazil's leading payment service company, I planned to join an exchange program in San Francisco, USA. However, the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically altered my plans. I found myself at home during the pandemic's first wave, a period that unexpectedly lasted over a year.Instead of seeing this as a setback, I viewed it as an opportunity. Using my accumulated knowledge and the new regulations from Brazil's central bank on open banking, I embarked on a solo journey to create a mobile app. In six months, I developed an MVP, where it had been available on the Apple Store and Google Store. The initial version, aimed at helping Brazilians manage their personal finances, includes basic functions like budget organization and financial planning. This app capitalizes on a unique opportunity in Brazil's financial market, where only two similar but less sophisticated apps exist.I single-handedly brought this app to life, from its initial design on Figma to developing the back end in Typescript Node.js and the front end in React Native. It is hosted on AWS in the São Paulo region and features a fully integrated CI/CD pipeline for testing and production environments. After that, my exchange in Berkeley post-pandemic allowed me to explore the more advanced open banking market, introducing me to the vast opportunities offered by plaid.com for full app development. I realized the ease of integrating with banks and the potential to enhance user convenience. This led to the idea of linking users with financial teachers and creating a personalized financial education tool with personal financial trainers. After improving my English and completing my exchange, I resumed the project to create its first official American version and plan to expand globally.
