Summer Career Coach for Chicago Scholars enrolled in the Emerge internship program.

I previously oversaw and monitored the quality of programming for the One Million Degrees program. I executed on OMD’s $3M Signature program budget, achieving nationally significant outcomes. I created DEI+Accessibility curriculum and workshops for students/staff, managed emergency and general program budgets, partnered with all 7 of the City Colleges of Chicago, and led virtual and in person yoga and wellness sessions.Directly supervised three Managers of College Partnerships and one Manager of Program Supports. These roles directly oversee all OMD Program Coordinators and Program Operation Coordinators. I lead and direct a staff of 11 that work directly with OMD students, manage and operate our scholar events, tutoring, volunteer and alumni programming. Partnered with Chicago Public Schools, The City Colleges of Chicago, and local colleges and universities to ensure our incoming Freshmen received the necessary resources and referrals during their community college experience. I co-led the initiative OMD Works, a career planning and placement initiative designed to expose OMD scholars to career readiness and exposure opportunities. In addition to my experience with professional development curriculum writing and direct career planning I am also a DEI+A advocate. I advocated for and co-created volunteer DEI goals and strategy development in alignment with the organization's values (Community, Equity, Excellence, Amplify, and Learning).

Program ManagementCollaborate with various stakeholders, such as college staff members and OMD Coaches, leveraging and strengthening scholars' networks of support.Plan and lead meetings with campus leadership to report out on program progress, ensure alignment, and to coordinate resources and supports.Monitor program metrics and use data to inform decision-making about scholar interventions.Supervise and coach a small team (1-2) of OMD Program Coordinators.Coordinate and execute monthly scholar development workshops and other scholar events and activities at the campus in coordination with other OMD team members.Scholar Engagement and ManagementAssist scholars in meeting personal, academic, and career development goals utilizing OMD'sprogram tools and resources.Maintain accurate and timely data on regular scholar interactions, grades, and programparticipation to identify patterns in the scholar population and program performance.Outreach & AdmissionsWork closely with OMD Scholar Recruitment Manager to meet campus program recruitmenttargets and the scholar on-boarding process.Facilitate information sessions for prospective scholars and provisional admission meetings andworkshops.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for effectively managing a caseload of 40-50 community college scholars and ensuring their successful persistence in college and the OMD program. As part of the program team, the Program Coordinator will play a key role in implementing OMD’s dynamic program model including scholar engagement and management, leading and facilitating monthly workshops and other scholar development events, fostering community- building, and ensuring scholars’ academic needs are met by working with the OMD Tutoring Coordinator. The role requires both a high level of interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence AND the ability to be attentive to detail and to keep track of multiple data points across the caseload of scholars.

Senior AmeriCorps member serving at Al Raby High School in the Garfield Park Community for a full year of wrap around support services.Senior AmeriCorps Members aka Team Leaders are school based senior corps members who lead team initiatives such as school related projects and community engagement. In addition they support their Program Manager in maintaining sustainable school house relationships and service delivery. Throughout the service year they work with their teams to provide peer coaching in increasing their service delivery and navigating their corps experience.
