I work for an amazing company that serves children diagnosed with ASD using an integrated neurobehavioral approach and with a focus on assent-based teaching and practices. In my position as an ABA Supervisor, I supervise some extremely skilled and dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians and Board Certified Autism Technicians/Behavioral Interventionists on a multidisciplinary team inclusive of SLPs, OTs, other BCBAs, music therapists, PTs, etc. What I love most about my company is that we really try and capitalize on our clients' strengths, wants, and needs. In our integrated approach, we are constantly looking at the newest evidence-based practices and pull from many different disciplines in an innovative, and client-centered approach that encompasses ALL facets of the clients' functioning to optimize treatment outcomes.

I worked as the Assistant Director of In-Home Services in a company that provides ABA-services to in-home clients as well as provides behavioral consultation and behavior technician services to public schools in CT. In my former position, I was in charge of staffing and handling in-home staff and Behaviorist/BCBA protocols for Connecticut Behavioral Health as well as overseeing the ABA training division where I worked to revamp their RBT coursework and provided more hands-on training and staff development for CBH's current employees. Additionally, I was a full-time behavioral consultant for the Hamden Public School system where I supervised and trained 14 behavior technicians who worked in a one-to-one capacity with children identified as in need of behavioral services within the public schools, planned, conducted, and oversaw behavior intervention plans for those children receiving services. I also worked closely with the PBIS and culture climate teams to design group contingencies and school-wide positive behavior supports and outlines as well as crisis protocols/on-call systems that could be used for all children and teachers in the public school. In the afternoons and early evenings, I had several private in-home clients that I served as the case manager for where I conducted behavioral assessments as needed, developed behavior intervention plans, trained and supervised the behavior therapists working with the clients in homes, and conducted parent training weekly so those services that the therapists were providing and modeling would be generalized to the caregivers as well. I also supervised several BCBA candidates throughout my tenure with CBH and am well-adept at, and comfortable with, providing supervision along the BACB guidelines for supervision hours both direct and indirect.

I worked at this company as a part-time, side job for over 10 years as an independent marketing executive for a leading wellness company, Melaleuca Inc., a company backed by the better business bureau, which sells all natural, all “green” products such as pet care, hair and beauty products, cleaning products, health and fitness, etc. I worked in the recruiting and hiring of like-minded professionals, advertising, and hosting wellness and health awareness events. I am still an avid consumer of this company's products and still very much believe in their commitment to wellness and health, I just no longer am an independent marketing executive for them.

I worked as a Special Education Teacher in a private school for children with Autism and multiple disabilities: High Road School: BEST Academy. The school serves children aged K-21 and I was the head teacher for a classroom of six children of various ages. I worked closely with my fellow certified staff and the BCBA to ensure their behavior plans and guidelines were implemented properly under the supervision of a BCBA. I was an integral part in developing the Behavior Intervention Plans for students in my classroom including conducting a Functional Analysis to discern one of my student’s root functional causes of behavior. In addition, my responsibilities as a Handle with Care Trainer and Ukeru Trainer included teaching my fellow coworkers how to de-escalate students in crises, how to execute a proper restraint to respond to severely explosive and un-redirectable challenging behaviors in an emergency, and to teach different psychological interventions for attending to, and de-escalating learners’ maladaptive behaviors. As an RBT Specialist and certified RBT, I worked to ensure that all RBTs in the building were up-to-date with their supervision schedules, scheduled initial competency exam assessments, trained and oversaw the RBT process for staff that needed help with concepts on the RBT exam, kept a running record of module completion for the RBT coursework, and assisted in implementing the initial competency exam assessments for RBTs ready to sit for the exam.

I worked in a residential group home and some of my duties included acting as a role model; Assisting adults with developmental disabilities with integration into the community; implementing and monitoring goals and behavior programs; assuring and maintaining the safety of the home, its residents, household equipment and supplies; assuring that medical needs were met; assisting with or preparing meals to meet nutritional requirements and specialized diets; maintaining the cleanliness of the home; assisting with or performing personal care and daily living needs; assuring that all policies, procedures, regulations and contractual obligations are followed at all times; transporting individuals to appointments, recreational activities, day program etc. as needed; assisting with the management of financial resources; completing all required forms and reports; and attending all required meetings, appointments, training, etc. In addition, I was med-certified,G-tube certified, and trained by the nurse to use the medical equipment including the lift, trained on all seizure protocols and first aid, and trained on managing a stint.

I worked in an adult day program working with adults with developmental and mental disabilities as a vocational job coach in an art and music-based program. Some of my duties included assisting with fostering autonomy/independence and supporting them in art and music activities, implementing and following goals and behavior programs, light cleaning duties in the program alongside consumers to ensure the program stays clean, following state procedures, guidelines, and regulations as per the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, and attending all required meetings, appointments, trainings, etc. I was also med-certified in this role and in charge of handing out medication for clients.

I worked at this school as a paraprofessional, and later as the lead educational assistant (floating position), teaching students with autism and behavioral challenges between the ages of 8 and 21. I taught using many different modalities including American sign language, picture exchange communication systems (PECs), and augmentative assistive devices (AACs), etc. depending on the needs of each student and the level that they were at academically and functionally addressing everything from math, English, to daily living skills. The goal was to improve the student’s ability to positively impact his/her environment. I worked with many different behavioral strategies as well as sensory techniques to improve students’ maladaptive behaviors and to help them better function on a daily basis and access the cirriculum.

I worked at this company for almost four years of which I worked at eight different locations to aid in training and people development. I have been an asset to this company. My fortes included but are not limited to training, people development, and labor management.I was in charge of the daily running of shifts, controlling semi-variables, profit and loss margins, including labor/food costs and restaurant controllable profit, delegation of tasks, motivating and recognition of employees (i.e. Birthday Boards, and weekly speed and cashier contests), scheduling, hiring/firing, and training. I made such improvements as increasing labor proficiency and productivity, bringing the food and waste down a full percentage, and spending almost sixty six percent less on extra labor costs. I am a certified manager in food safety and have taken several leadership classes under Yum! Brands, Inc. as well to further my management career. I have aided in the opening of five stores. I have also been in charge of running an excellent shift for three annual corporate inspections as well as five passing health inspections during my career.

Worked on a one-to-one basis with customers as a cashier, was in charge of training associates, Head Line Leader, and Bakery Opener.I worked as a cashier, took inventory for the café, performed light cleaning duties, assisted in food preparation, and trained fellow co-workers. Achieved certification in multiple areas of service including salad and sandwich preparation, cashier, dining room, barista, and the use of the oven for the making of crispanis (their version of a pizza) and baguettes. Administrative duties included bread count, VIA Panera Catering orders, scheduling, and implementing training tools and systems. When I resigned my position I was offered an Assistant General Manager position which I declined for the prospect of my opportunities at Taco Bell.
