Du mobile is a telecommunications service provider based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with annual revenues more than 12bn AED (£2.5bn). My role reports into the group’s Chief Finance Officer, and is responsible for overseeing all group financial audits, and ensuring adequate financial controls and compliance. Key Responsibilities:• Present and explain monthly management accounts and quarterly and annual financial reports to the executive board of directors• Oversee management of all closing timetables and cycles • Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of all complex financial accounting matters • Owner of the relationships with the internal and external stakeholders including royalty auditors, VAT auditors, state auditors, audit committee and the Company Secretary• Manage end to end consolidated annual and interim statutory reporting under IFRS• Working as a business partner for various functions of the business• Oversee the group’s VAT compliance and returns filing• Oversee technical calculations and delivery of the monthly and annual royalty payments (tax)• Responsible for the group’s payroll processing and reporting• Manage six direct reports including four Senior Managers (tax, VAT, Financial reporting, payroll) and two Managers and reviewing their performances and set up KPI’s Key Achievements:• Led a finance improvement initiative through developing key insights from bench marking the interim and annual financial statements with other rival telecom operators • Saved the company 60m AED (£12m) by reviewing old provisions and the contracts• Reviewed the payroll process and established new robust controls and processes • Oversaw and successfully delivered the state, royalty, VAT and interim audits • Performed a technical review on three major contracts and discovered accounting errors

CNOOC is one of the largest oil and gas exploring companies in the world with operation across multiple regions including the North Sea in the UK. My role reported into the Finance Director and was responsible for overseeing $250m cost recovery allocations across all UK operations as well as being the key finance business partner with the two head offices (Canada and China). Key Responsibilities:• Overseeing the technical calculation and allocation of cost recoveries to various joint venture partners• Delivering ‘zero based budgeting’ and monthly forecasting for all cost centres and UK companies• Responsible for the design and development of sophisticated cash flow forecast models and presenting outputs from this to the executive team monthly• Making recommendations to executive team to support group funding decisions based on forecast models• Key finance liaison lead with Beijing and Calgary head offices, and acted as finance business partner for UK operations• Leading process improvement initiatives for G&A reporting and time writing administration• Developed and delivered finance training programme for non-finance stakeholders • Responsible for supervising a team of four G&A Analysts across multiple locations• Focal point for external G&A auditors and management of the annual G&A external audit processKey Achievements:• Started one week before the first Covid-19 lockdown without any handover from predecessor and sustained and delivered all targets• Inherited a new team and ensured their engagement and development while learning on the job• Improved the budgeting process and built better relationships with the Beijing and Calgary head offices• Reviewed all material G&A contracts and proposed and delivered savings to the business• Oversaw significant restructuring process with HR while keeping the team motivated• Achieved 4 recognition awards from peers in one year in recognition of efforts
