The Trans Homelessness Pathways Project seeks to leverage the existing services of the partner organisations, PICYS, TransFolk of WA and ConnectGroups, to develop referral pathways for trans young people experiencing homelessness and support the implementation of a LGBTIQ+ Peer Support Toolkit in PICYS' new Base Camp aGender drop-in space.

Rainbow Futures WA is the peak LGBTIQA+ Advocacy body that is a consortium of WA-based LGBTIQA+ community organisations and individuals concerned with the long-term well-being of the community. It has grown out of a series of community gatherings, bringing together members of LGBTIQA+ groups and individuals around WA.

I am the Perth based Research Assistant for this project that is researching how to support trans and gender diverse young people in schools across three countries; Australia, Canada and USA. In this role I recruit Perth based participants, conduct interviews and summarise the themes of the interviews for the researchers; Wayne Martino and Wendy Cumming-Potvin.

The Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention members provide governance and advisory expertise to the WA Minister for Mental Health and the WA Mental Health Commission for the implementation of the WA Suicide Prevention Strategy.

In this role Dani is responsible for the coordination, administration, and implementation of the ‘Developing an online game to reduce depression in trans and gender diverse young people’ research project, currently referred to as TRANSPARX. It aims to collaboratively adapt an existing, evidence-based, online intervention (SPARX-R) for use with trans youth to prevent the onset of depression in this high-risk group.

WA LGBTI Health Strategy Reference Group members inform and assist in the development of the first WA LGBTI Health Strategy.

I was a registered ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) trainer who successfully delivered numerous workshops in Perth with positive feedback. ASIST is the world’s leading suicide intervention workshop that teaches participants to intervene and help prevent the immediate risk of suicide. I also used my experience to advocate for LGBTIQ inclusivity practices in the LivingWorks ASIST trainings.

Dani coordinated and conducted community consultations for two community agency partnerships. They coordinated consultations with LGBTI people of all ages for Living Proud LGBTI Community Services of WA in partnership with TransFolk of WA, Bisexual+ Community Perth, OUT SouthWest, Albany Gay and Lesbian, ConnectGroups WA and Curtin University’s CERIPH (Collaboration for Evidence, Research andImpact in Public Health). Dani also consulted trans and gender diverse young people for Perth Inner City Youth Service in partnership with TransFolk of WA, YouthLink, Telethon Kids Institute and PCH Gender Diversity Service. These were conducted under the WA Health Networks leadership for the WA LGBTI Health Strategy development.

Freedom Centre (FC) is Perth’s peer support service for LGBTIQ young people under 26. It aims to reduce the incidence of suicide and mental illness and promote mental wellbeing in the target population. Freedom Centre does this by reducing social isolation, promoting help-seeking and informing LGBTIQ young people through its drop-in centre, website and community workshops to young people in schools and people who work with young people.As the only full time staff member working at FC I had primary responsibility for the following:• Providing peer support, information and referrals to LGBTIQ young people and their families through the drop-in centre, email, phone, online forums, blog, retreats and workshops • Providing information and guidance to professionals working with LGBTIQ young people through enquiries and workshops• Training and supervising the FC volunteer team of staff and part-time staff who help facilitate the drop-in centre• Planning, development, evaluation, reporting and administration of Freedom Centre services• Delivering and coordinating all services and projects run by the FC• Proving feedback and recommendations on a range of reference, advisory and working groups for projects that aim to promote the wellbeing of young people and/or LGBTIQ populations. This includes, but is not limited to: - Trans Pathways research project into the care pathways and experiences of trans young people in Australia- Young and Well CRC's LGBTIQ Help-seeking etool Research Project management which included development of RAD Australia website referral database.- the OneLife Living Proud Project Community Action Group under the WA Suicide Prevention Strategy - the Equal Opportunity Commission Challenging Sexuality and Gender Based Bullying in Schools Project .

I assisted Living Proud to deliver Opening Closets full-day and half-day mental health trainings, as well as LivingWorks ASIST and SafeTALK workshops to promote the mental health and wellbeing of our community, particularly regarding LGBTIQ people, diverse sexuality and gender and suicide prevention.

As a Peer Researcher for the MyPeer project I developed and implemented qualitative evaluation tools for the Freedom Centre peer based services online and in the drop-in centre.

As Support Officer I provided a range of support services to people living with HIV. This included welfare and health service access support as well as coordinating and facilitating retreats, workshops and other recreational activities to promote the wellbeing of clients.

As a People 1st Programme Educator I delivered both individual and group based education sessions to people with a range of intellectual disabilities regarding sexual health, relationships, communication and protective behaviours.

As a Social Trainer I worked with people with intellectual disabilities in group homes and respite arrangements. In this role I developed and implemented personalised management plans to increase the quality of life and wellbeing of the individuals.
