During this time I was acting SHEQ Co-ordinator at an upper tier COMAH site in Manchester. Working in the field of industrial and medical gases, and N2O Production processes I was responsible for managing, maintaining, sustaining and improving HSEQ standards on-site.Responsibilities:• Create, devop and maintain HSEQ standards through operational processes and risk assessment• Analyse, trend and report key performance indicators for HSEQ including active and reactive monitoring systems and incident investigation themes• Manage action tracking and implement operational and engineering changes as HSEQ priorities• Wrote several key sections of the 2017 COMAH Safety Report submission following SRAM guidance• Manage the Environmental Permitting requirements for the Nitrous Oxide production process and find opportunities to develop the model• Train and develop plant operators and operational shift managers to on HSEQ requirements and encourage management of health and safety in the line structure• Feedback, report and present key performance data to senior managers and to the site HSEQ Committee• Developed and ran a behavioural safety improvement programme that targeted one if the sites main incident focus areas

My role revolved around the operation of cryogenic air separation plants and the monitoring, trending and reporting of performance indicators for these plants on a monthly rolling basis. My responsibilities also included the forecasting of the electricity demand to our energy suppliers in order to minimise our costs. To summarise:Plant operation, performance monitoringnand engineering change:• Developing a knowledge for the cryogenic air seperation process and working with the operations team remotely in order to start-up the plants safely and efficiently• Developing a knowledge for other industrial plant processes such as Steam-methane reformation and understanding operational processes associated with such• Monitoring plant performance against targets and investigating periods of plant downtime in order to assess the cost to the business and identify opportunities for engineering solutions to recurring issues• Make engineering modifications to such plants where required in order to improve plant performance utilising technical knowledge within he organisation• Plant commissioning and working with on site discipline engineers and contrsctors to commission a relocated steam-methane H2 reformer, and air separation unitEnergy management:• Working with electricity suppliers in order to forecast plant energy consumption, predicting areas of high demand and also accommodating for plant failure• Developing a system in which forecasting can be amended out-of-hours to avoid forecasting incorrect consumption during unforeseen outages and plant failures• Developing a knowledge around, and assisting in, the management of plant processes during triad periods and peak electricity demand

In the summer of 2013, I worked for BOC Gases Ltd. as a Process Engineering Intern. I adapted to various roles from project work to on-site production; I was required to perform monthly checks on the air separation units to assess whether the internal atmosphere of the unit housing was inert. The reviews formed the basis of a project I was given the responsibility for leading; on improving the Nitrogen purge system in order to maintain a regular inert atmosphere. The project required presenting my proposal to a review committee; after acceptance it was then my responsibility to contact relevant contractors for the installation and to acquire quotations for the equipment. I was also given the role of re-evaluating the site P&IDs for changes in process control and instrumentation in which I would physically reassess the pipelines and valve labelling on-site. I took a final role in my penultimate week at BOC in assisting in a plant shut-down and plant thaw that occurred due to a build-up of impurities in the reboiler; the distillation column was brought to atmospheric temperature and vented in which I assisted to regulate the ventilation of the plant.From my academic studies and research into the process equipment I had already gained an extensive knowledge of the compression equipment and heat exchangers on-site. During the preparation of my project on improving the Nitrogen purge system I utilised vital project management and time management skills that I have gained over years of experience; I utilised project schedules and managed my time effectively by adjusting the schedule to suit problems during the project. Another vital skill I incorporated during my placement was the ability, and confidence, to liaise with other departments in the company; as part of the project I required inputs from the operation managers and production team, this required a considerable about of team work, which I have gained from my project managing experiences in the past.
