I am a partner with Harper Grey LLP in the defamation and privacy, health law and insurance litigation groups.My defamation and privacy practice involves prosecuting and defending claims for libel, slander and breach of privacy, obtaining injunctive relief and publication bans, and using the court process to discover the identity of anonymous online publishers. I also have experience advising companies on online copyright and trademark issues, Terms of Use and Privacy Policies, and compliance with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation ("CASL").I am a frequent author on issues of defamation and privacy, and have been quoted and interviewed by leading national and regional newspapers; radio; and television news programs.I have appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia and at the Supreme Court of Canada, and have been cited on internet defamation by the Supreme Court of Canada in the leading case on liability for hyperlinks.I also have a health law practice focused on defending physicians in civil litigation, as well as a broad insurance practice acting for insurers in complex personal injury, property loss and defamation claims.
