I was on the Local Listener team for the Auricle project, which worked with the City of Edmonton’s RECOVER team to test a new form of listening infrastructure in, with, and for communities, starting with the Alberta Ave. neighbourhood. We recruited and talked to people from all walks of life, inviting them to both offer a story and tell us what their story means. Based on these stories, we tested a prototype for decolonized data collection that helps communities better understand what good living means to them and their diverse members.
