About Daniel Langdon
Do you like stories? I love them, whether in movies, television, books, or a recounting of a tale by a masterful orator. I didn’t start out wanting to be an accountant. I majored in anthropology studying human remains and archaeology. I was amazed by how much of the story we could piece together through artifacts left from the past. Though I loved the field, I knew it wasn’t the right fit long term and decided to do an MBA. Through my MBA, I discovered that numbers are even more powerful storytelling tools than was my trowel! During my MBA internships, I discovered another passion of mine, finding patterns in data. Whether it was figuring out how a city could improve its citizen engagement or how a hospital could design for patient-centered care, I loved seeking and analyzing the relevant data and exploring theories to find out what story it told. I realized how financial models and graphs, when accurately presented and adequately articulated, can narrate the story of the data and help my customer to achieve their goals by making more informed data-driven decisions. I took my passion for data, storytelling, and decision making and entered into the world of technology. Working with my clients to implement financial management reporting software made me realize how fascinated I was with the way technology implementation decisions significantly impacted the stories that their data would tell. Working at the intersection of technology, finance, operations, and change management is my happy place!

Director, Customer Experience Operations

Manager, Professional Services Operations
Manager - Services Enablement
I led a fantastic group of talented individuals with the objective of developing the operational infrastructure to support rapid client growth. In my day to day role of consultant hiring, consultant onboarding, and partner enablement, our team realized that we needed to standardize our processes in order to increase scale to support client growth. I focused my efforts on streamlining the onboarding experience of Vena employees and partners by implementing an onboarding program on the Vena online learning management system for consistency of experience, establishing a community channel for partners to support each other and increase engagement with Vena teams as well as developing an agile style forum to address the most frequent partner and consultant challenges affecting implementations.
Manager Solutions Services
Vena’s continued success required a substantial FTE growth in the Professional Services (PS) team, but it was proving difficult to find enough of the right talent. To solve this challenge, I partnered with HR and the other PS leaders to implement a standardized hiring framework to ensure the best talent was selected, built in a real-time candidate feedback loop on the hiring process to make sure we were offering the best candidate experience and had all new candidates report to me so that I could ensure that their product knowledge and implementation skills met the expectations of our clients. On average, I had eight to ten consultants reporting to me at any one time and loved coaching and mentoring them through their first few months at Vena.
Operations Team Lead
As prospective clients saw the power of Vena, our customer base grew fast. To facilitate this growth, I moved into the newly created Operations Team Lead position. Our newest team members had previously learned using ‘trial by fire’, so I cultivated a more consistent and supporting environment for learning by establishing a road map for onboarding, incorporating a checklist to ensure everyone had the same tools, and expanding a case study to represent a typical client experience.
Senior Consultant
With more experience under my belt, I continued implementing the Vena software at clients with increasing autonomy, including more complex implementations and overseeing newer consultants to ensure their projects were completed on time and budget. I’m very proud that I was able to highlight the value add of Vena to the clients, which allowed for several license and service expansions.Clients included leaders in manufacturing, mining, energy, and professional services.
Consultant
One of my greatest joys of being a consultant was seeing the difference Vena’s software made in our clients' lives. Vena is a cloud-based Corporate Performance Management software solution spanning several financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, internal and external reporting, month-end close, and foreign currency consolidation processes. My role as a consultant in the implementation of Vena included partnering with the client’s senior leadership, finance, IT and other teams to tailor the system to address each client’s unique challenges and goals through all project phases including design, scoping, development, product implementation, and User Acceptance Testing.Clients included leaders in pharmaceuticals, banking, mining, and professional services.
Senior Analyst - Strategy Management Office
Supported the delivery of projects, development of processes and implementation of best practices designed to assist the hospital in achieving corporate goals identified in the strategic plan of a recently merged organization.

Business Development Analyst
Identified opportunities for the hospital to increase revenue beyond the traditional base funding from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, including the development of a comprehensive business case for a $2 million digital operations reporting tool to be used across multiple hospitals.
Marketing Co-Ordinator
Focused on improving the experience of end users (citizens) engaging in community services within the City of Hamilton by applying marketing principles and user centred design to the public sector.

Created public awareness for issues around world poverty in Canada, winning an award from the City of Hamilton for my efforts.
