Dan Levitt, MSc., CHE is an acclaimed international speaker, elder care leader, writer, and gerontologist, specializing in helping others to create better lives for older adults. Dan’s purpose is to teach people how to transform the lives of older persons across the globe. As a popular professional speaker, he has delivered inspiring keynote speeches impacting thousands of people on five continents. Bringing together three organizations, St. Vincent’s, Holy Family and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital Foundations, Tapestry Foundation was created to better serve the needs of patients and residents. A selected list of accomplishments includes:• Led the organization of the First Annual Feast of Fortune fundraising dinner and auction. • Cultivated and closed major gifts and stewarded multiple donors. • Led the digital mammography fundraising campaign including drafting a case statement. • Led St. Vincent’s Hospital through their first annual onsite fundraising event. • Raised the major gift and planned giving profile of Healthy Aging Seminars. • Successfully closed numerous Foundation grant applications including the largest single gift in the history of the Tapestry Foundation. • Initiated the improvement of an annual giving fundraising program to enhance the dining experience for seniors for Providence Health Care’s residential sites. • Developed a strategy for increasing donations through a targeted direct mail campaign. • Identified opportunities to provide Foundations materials to patients and identified key physician lead for a grateful patient program.

A selected list of accomplishments includes:• Implemented an integrated fundraising program including, annual giving campaigns, gala dinners and auctions, foundation grants, planned gifts, and creating a culture of giving.• Led physical plant improvements including a $140,000 dining room renovation project and the replacement of four existing elevators valued at $450,000. • Enhancement to resident care through palliative care volunteers, admission process improvements, resident classification system implementation, and education to make the connection with residents. • Human resources improved included, staff focus groups, a new staff orientation program, return to work claims management, and a decrease in grievances. • Completed a strategic planning process which included a grant to convert independent housing to assisted living at Little Mountain Court.• Improved communication with a new informational technology system, new telephone system and new time clock system for scheduling and payroll.• Feedback from families was solicited through, questionnaires, multi-lingual focus groups and the introduction of a new concern/complaint form. • Successfully advocated increased direct care hours from the funding body for $100,000. • Initiated a horticulture therapy program to engage seniors and create a therapeutic garden.• Introduced a new hot food cart delivery system to enhance the dining experience for seniors.
