I work with owners and other decision makers within early-stage businesses to resolve issues impacting business performance. I concentrate on the areas of strategy, process and operations. My approach is to focus on aligning strategy with people, processes and objectives. Regardless of the tools we use, I never lose track of the goal - a strong, growing, and profitable enterprise. I believe that small business is the engine that drives our economic growth. In fact, most of us got our first job in a small business. Unfortunately, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20% of new businesses will fail within the first year. By the end of the second year, an additional 30% will be gone, and by the end of a decade, the failure rate will have grown to greater than 70%. I find these statistics appalling.As your business advisor, I will do everything I can to keep your early-stage business from being one of those statistics. I am committed to using my 45 years of business experience to keep your company’s economic engine running at peak performance.As a serial entrepreneur, I’ve founded or been a principal in four small businesses in remarkably diverse spaces. In addition, I played a pivotal role in the IPO of a fifth company and have contributed to the success of hundreds of others. These companies have been in industries such as defense contracting, information systems, textile production, environmental protection, and telecommunications.In 1990, I left private industry to form Dan Light Consulting. Then in 2015, I turned my attention to helping early-stage businesses succeed.
