In February of 2015, I found myself in a role that changed both my personal and professional life forever. I was able to leverage my stretch projects I did as a disability case manager, and found myself in a role as a lean coach in an unfamiliar business unit. What this taught me was that as a leader or a coach, or even as a friend or significant other, it is of the utmost importance to approach any problem with an open mind and to trade my preconceived opinions for thought-provoking questions. Over the course of the last several years, I've been lucky enough to be able to both teach the concepts of an environment built on lean and voice-of-customer concepts, as well as put those teachings into practice by empowering my team and helping them learn how to problem solve complex customer issues.
