Advanced Paradigms, Inc (API) of Alexandria, Virginia was a private software development and training firm, engaged in developing custom desktop software for Microsoft Windows and DOS for commercial and government clients. API also provided software development training in Precision Software’s Superbase, the first database to run on the Microsoft Windows OS. Zenith Data Systems, Government Sales Office in Fairfax, Virginia was a division of Zenith Electronics and later acquired by Groupe Bull of France in 1989. Its primary revenue source was the Desktop IV contract with US Air Force whereby ZDS supplied the US Air Force with desktop computers and laptops. Zenith produced the first laptop computers equipped with hard disks for sale to government clients including the IRS and the US Air Force and the US Army.
