Advanced Paradigms, Inc (API) of Alexandria, Virginia was a private software development and training firm, engaged in developing custom desktop software for Microsoft Windows and DOS for commercial and government clients. API also provided software development training in Precision Software’s Superbase, the first database to run on the Microsoft Windows OS. Tyson'S Corner, Virginia

Zenith Data Systems, Government Sales Office in Fairfax, Virginia was a division of Zenith Electronics and later acquired by Groupe Bull of France in 1989. Its primary revenue source was the Desktop IV contract with US Air Force whereby ZDS supplied the US Air Force with desktop computers and laptops. Zenith produced the first laptop computers equipped with hard disks for sale to government clients including the IRS and the US Air Force and the US Army. The Government Sales Office in Fairfax was the source for government procurement of hardware built by Zenith and software from several companies, notably Microsoft, all of whom were OEMs on the Desktop IV contract through the ZDS sales channel..Responsibilities• Designed and developed custom software for use by the sales, support and administrative staff.• Worked with departmental end-users and management to develop specifications and requirements for custom software.• Wrote ad-hoc queries and reports for executive management.• Developed utilities and tools for migrating data between commercial software products• Provided technical sales support to sales staff at meetings with government buyers• Fielded commercial software support calls from high profile government end-users
