In my environmental practice I resolve legal issues pertaining to commercial real estate transactions and regulatory compliance matters, and I represent private and public clients in environmental agency proceedings and Federal and state courts. From 2011-2015 I was selected as a "New Jersey Rising Star - Environmental Law" by Super Lawyers, and in 2015 and 2016 I was selected as a “Top Environmental Lawyer” in Bergen County, NJ by 201 Magazine. I am a past Chair of the NJ State Bar Association Environmental Law Section and a former member of the Steering Committee of the NJ Commerce and Industry Association Environmental Business Council. I lead Scarinci Hollenbeck LLC's cannabis and psychedelics practice group, which I formed in early 2017. We provide comprehensive legal counselling regarding international, federal, state, and local cannabis law and policy to cannabis operators and those seeking to enter the industry. We also provide 360° business law counselling to our cannabis clients, including assistance with real estate, corporate, tax, M&A, environmental/land use, transactional, IP, and litigation matters. In 2018 I was the only New Jersey attorney selected as a Cannabis Law Trailblazer by the National Law Journal and in 2023 and 2024 I was designated a "New Jersey Super Lawyer - Cannabis Law."I also lead our attorneys in counseling clients regarding the federal, state, and local laws and business opportunities pertaining to a variety of psychedelic compounds, particularly those demonstrating potential therapeutic treatment benefits such as psilocybin and MDMA. I regularly interact with business and professional organizations regarding the psychedelics industry, and I am the co-founder and past co-chair of the NJSBA Psychedelics Law Subcommittee and co-chair of the NJ State Bar Association (NJSBA) Cannabis and Psychedelics Law Special Committee.I graduated cum laude from Pace University School of Law in 2001. During law school I earned certificates in Environmental Law and International Law, worked in the Office of the Staff JAG at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. I practiced law as a student attorney in the Pace Law School Environmental Litigation Clinic, and served as a member of the Environmental Law Review, Chair of the 2001 U.S. National Environmental Moot Court Competition, and lead counsel for Pace Law School during the 2001 U.S. International Environmental Moot Court Competition. I previously earned a B.A. in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and I am an Eagle Scout.
