Fulfill a wide variety of responsibilities in support of America's oldest and foremost artist residency program. Working with the front office team, I determine what needs doing and make things happen, large and small, to help keep operations running smoothly. I act as concierge, ombudsman, advocate, messenger, audiovisual technician, receptionist, equipment expert, tour guide, gift shop manager, communication facilitator, cashier, information disseminator, graphic designer, promoter, photographer, travel advisor, sounding board... and perform any duties and tasks you can imagine those entail. I represent the organization to arriving artists, distinguished guests and the general public. I complete special projects, of my own design and by request, that further the overall mission and goals of MacDowell.

-Taught a diverse group of elementary-age students of varying abilities in whole-class and small group settings. -Planned and executed student-centered lessons in language arts, math, science and social studies. -Utilized a wide variety of teaching strategies including technology integration; especially proficient with SMART Board interactive white board. -Implemented positive behavior management strategies. -Participated in grade level team meetings, staff meetings, school assemblies and field trips.

-Weekend announcer and back-up local host for NPR's "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition."-Operated audio board from master control studio for statewide network of radio stations.-Compiled and read news live; read paid underwriters' messages; played promos and aired programs from various sources according to program log.

-Taught a diverse group of first grade students of varying abilities in whole-class and small group settings. Fourteen weeks of increasing responsibility culminated in total classroom responsibility for two weeks. Planned and executed student-centered lessons in language arts, math, science and social studies. -Utilized a wide variety of teaching strategies including technology integration; especially proficient with SMART Board interactive white board. Designed and presented lessons on phonics, reading comprehension, mathematical patterns, weather and westward expansion of the United States. -Implemented positive behavior management strategies. -Participated in grade level team meetings, staff meetings, school assemblies and field trips. -Special projects included targeted interventions for mixed-grade groups needing remediation in basic writing and math skills.

-Taught fifth grade students in Special Education settings. Planned and executed student-centered lessons in math, reading and language arts for four diverse groups of up to 12 students each. -Designed and presented units on addition, subtraction (including decimals) and multiplication (properties, mental math and estimating sums, differences and products), the voyage and settlement of the Mayflower pilgrims, spelling, vocabulary, main idea and supporting details in a paragraph, making nouns plural and writing a friendly letter. -Implemented positive behavior management strategies. -Participated in grade level team meetings, IEP meetings, staff meetings, parent conferences, school assemblies and field trips. -Communicated with parents on an as-needed basis.

-Provided 1:1 in-classroom Special Education supports targeted to a first grade boy with multiple developmental and emotional disabilities. Ensured safety of the boy and others by redirecting his behaviors or separating him from the class as necessary. Provided academic accommodations and modifications according to IEP. -Provided 2:1 in-classroom Special Education supports for two second grade boys with learning disabilities, including academic accommodations according to IEPs. -Transitioned to general classroom aide position mid-year and provided teacher support to first and second grade classrooms in the form of teaching small groups in all content areas, administrative tasks, and lunch and recess duties. -Participated in grade level team meetings, IEP meetings, school assemblies and field trips.

-Non-commissioned Officer-in-Charge of training and supervising a team of broadcast and print journalists and photographers, ensuring technical and tactical proficiency as well as physical fitness.-Directed production of audiovisual projects supporting the goals and documenting the activities of the Rhode Island Army National Guard.-Served as escort and credentialing authority to civilian media seeking information about the military.

-Morning drive-time radio news anchor/personality "Dan Mills" on music-driven entertainment programs; reported for up to three stations of a four-station cluster in Norwich, CT.-Conducted interviews with newsmakers; covered local news; wrote and produced news stories for broadcast.-Mentored one novice news writer.

-Interviewed newsmakers; wrote and produced news stories for air on talk radio station in Providence, RI.-Assembled and anchored newscasts for stations in Providence and New Haven (CT) markets.

-Set up and disassembled equipment for remote broadcasts for four radio stations in New London, CT cluster; represented stations to the public and provided on-air updates during promotional appearances. -Board-operated during broadcast of live sporting events; filled in as local news anchor/producer for nationally-syndicated morning talk show.
