AIM historic merger – 70 years in the makingAn historic merger between the Queensland and Northern Territory, New South Wales and ACT, Victorian and Tasmanian and South Australian divisions of the Australian Institute of Management has been overwhelmingly approved by Members.The new entity will be known as the Australian Institute of Management.The merger makes this group one of Australia’s most powerful membership-based organisations with nearly 18,500 Personal and Corporate Members and 10 offices in major cities across the country.Prior to the merger, the five divisions of AIM operated as separate legal entities each with its own board of directors. Under the new structure effective 1 January 2014 the group will operate under a board of 14 directors. It will also list some of Australia’s biggest private and public sector organisations as its Corporate Members.Mr Bryan Nye FAIM, AIM National President, said the merger was a pivotal moment in AIM’s history that would ensure the prosperity and future growth of the Institute.“The creation of this group will unlock and create new resources to increase and expand investment into Member services, as well as the development of Australia’s professional management community at large,” Mr Nye said.“There will be greater capacity to invest in research, ensuring we are an effective advocate on current and future challenges facing the management profession, while providing Members with insights on trends that will boost the performance of their organisations.”“The future of our organisation will be reliant upon its ability to effectively engage with the broader community.
