I bring skills as a leader, advocate, entrepreneur, and champion for excellence, with experience in achieving goals of institutional significance, capturing external funding in support of new and continuing initiatives, and navigating relationships with campus, system, agency, and governmental colleaguesMuch of my work has focused in the following key areas: assessment, faculty development, online learning, strategic planning, and student success. I believe that collaboration in support of goal achievement is key to success. I have been successful in strengthening my institution through extramural grant writing. While a dean in Texas, I authored seven federal and one state grant worth a total of over $24,000,000. Many were focused on Hispanic-serving institution initiatives, an area I am personally and professionally committed to.I am a passionate advocate for student success and the exceptional faculty and high-quality academic programs that provide the foundation for achievement. I lead forward-thinking, data-informed, and high-impact programs designed to achieve goals of strategic importance to my university. I focus on strategic planning and communication as foundations for program development and success, and navigate intra- and inter-divisional partnerships with ease. I champion the cause(s) of those historically under-represented and under-resourced in higher education. Finally, I have developed creative responses to fiscal and physical resource limitations and have been successful in capturing external funding in support of institutional initiatives.
