I served as the layout designer for The Chaffey Review, a literary journal and creative art collective focused on publishing poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and visual arts, as well as showcasing music and film by both established and emerging artists. My duties involved selecting and editing poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction pieces to be featured in the literary journal. I interviewed visual artists and featured transcribed versions of the conversations in the journal. My final task involved selecting and completing the layout design for the literary journal using InDesign.

My role as managing editor involved taking care of the day-to-day responsibilities within the newsroom. I was in charge of managing the staff and working closely with all editors to ensure the timely production of the newspaper. I coordinated staff meetings, accepted pitch ideas, and set deadlines. I was able to strengthen my copy editing skills and familiarize myself with the desktop publishing software, InDesign.

I served as a staff writer and copy editor for an award-winning college newspaper. My tasks transcended writing and also involved the layout production of the newspaper. My role as a staff writer allowed me to further develop my writing and public speaking skills while adhering to strict deadlines. I managed the social media accounts for the newspaper and familiarized myself with photography and writing concise and descriptive photo cutlines.
