As Program Development Coordinator for the four DCI Centers of Excellence, I work to augment and elevate their research, clinical, and fundraising efforts. I focus my efforts on creating engaging narratives for each center that reflects their mission and goals. My activities include pitching, writing, and editing stories for DCI and Duke Health Media, providing marketing and logistical support for fundraisers, contributing to strategic discussions, sharing best practices between centers, and serving as an ambassador for the work of the centers. The four centers include Prostate and Urologic Cancers, Sarcoma, Cancer Immunotherapy, and Cancer Support and Survivorship.

I research and write a monthly blog explaining how leading medical oncologists treat kidney cancer, interviewing physicians and patients for their perspectives. In the process, I translate medical and scientific information into every-day language that engages while it informs. I also report on national and international meetings of thought leaders in kidney cancer.

Supported a staff of over 20 part-time faculty through in-service workshops and one-to-one consultations. Taught basic writing and freshman English.
